Use the usual precautions but realistically LO are going to get sick! Colds are so hard to stop spreading.

I think you should okay if you wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, and continue to nurse.

This worries me too. I'm really into washing my hands and I imagine that'll help. And trying to avoid touching his hands/face should decrease the exposure too. I was told that most germs travel through the nose and eyes, not the mouth.

If you are nursing, keeping nursing. That is how I keep my little one from getting terribly sick. He gets the antibodies from you.

@tina We're the same.... LO had a brief bout of croup at about 5 months, but other than that was never sick, even when DH and I were. Sometimes if we had bad colds, we'd see LO get a little snottier than usual, but it was never even enough for daycare to say anything. I think nursing antibodies probably played a big role in that.

Face masks are the best way and hand washing. If you're nursing let baby nurse a lot. Even though face masks are the best way at preventing, I haven't worn one yet but all baby has gotten is one case of snuffles in her first 6 months when the weather changed even though both my husband and I have been sick.

Reggie, I can't remember if you're nursing/pumping or not, but if you are, have no fear-- the antibodies you are producing while you are sick will transfer to baby through your milk and they will probably not get sick. RJ was NEVER sick, until the very first week we started him on formula-- he got sick right away. Sigh.

No kissing! This is what got my LO sick...my husband gave him a shower of kisses one night and that was what did him in!

My parents are major hypochondriacs and one of the first things they gave us when I brought LM home was a box of face masks! They look ridiculous, but it actually helps. And I'm nuts about washing my hands.

I just wash my hands a lot and try not to put my face near hers. I'm a SAHM, so I'm with my LO all the time.

I figure that it's not the end of the world, she needs some germs to build up her immune system anyway.

i was going to post about this very thing too! i have a pretty bad cold with a phlegmy cough. i've been avoiding olive as much as possible, washing my hands like soap is going out of style, and i need to get a face mask -- i went out to buy one today and of course forgot about it.

i'm not sure what else you can do. hope you feel better soon!

I woke up with a sore throat this morning and it's getting worse! I wore a mask while taking care of LO this evening (I went back to work so I only see him from 3pm until his bedtime.. which is around 6 - 7pm)... I'm really afraid of giving it to him! I'm also worried that he already caught my cold and it's just hard for me to tell? Is it possible? How did you prevent spreading your cold to your LO?
