I got a horrible cold right after we found out I was pregnant. I spent a lot of time closed up in the bathroom with the shower on super hot to sit in the steam. Hot water and lemon helped to soothe my throat too. I really wanted to try the netti pot, but I'm still too scared of it, lol.

@blushink: wow I had no idea about the antibodies! Makes me feel better, I've been fighting a cold for 3 weeks now and was terrified it would effect the baby in a bad way!

Sudafed helped me a lot when pregnant along with Claritin but I can't take Sudafed now that I'm breastfeeding.

I got sick once while I was pregnant. Just rested and stayed hydrated. Make sure you monitor your temperature. If you feel terrible tylenol's okay to take.
Hope you get better soon!

I got a cold and congestion earlier in my pregnancy. I just toughed it out and had lots of honey and lemon. My OB told me I could use a saline solution for my nose but I chose not to.

With a toddler, I"M ALWAYS SICK! That's daycare for you. That being said, it sucks that you can't take meds (other than tylenol) on the up side, being sick is good for baby. Because you are giving him/her more antibodies when sick. So on that end... bring on the germs!

I was so sick with the worst head cold I've ever had but I didn't want to risk taking anything. In order to clear congestion, the Neti pot is amazing! The snot will just come flying out, crazy. I also swear by warm water with lemon and honey to soothe your throat.

I'm 21 weeks and I have a prescription for Zyrtec and take it daily. I've been having major allergy issues for the past couple months, so I've been using Zyrtec, a sinus rinse bottle and Mucinex every once in a while.

I've taken Tylenol once or twice, until I realized that caffeine worked better for headaches.

Oh man, I know the feeling. I'm on day 3 of my cold and I'm miserable. I finally broke down and took two regular strength Tylenol this morning. My OB sent me home with a list of approved meds. I'm in my 1st trimester so I don't want to take any if I can help it.

My coworker came into work last year when I was about 30 weeks pregnant with a killer cold, I knew I would get it and I did!

I am a huge baby when I am sick, so normally I would have started cold meds right away. I had to tough it out with no meds so I felt like crap for longer than normal, but I just drank lots of warm water with lemon and decaf tea. I also ate Ricola like it was my job!

Hope you feel better soon!

I've been fighting a cold for 2 days. Nothing too serious....battling runny and stuffy nose, slightly sore/tickle-y throat, congestion, and throbbing headaches. I haven't taken any medicine mainly because I forgot which ones my doctor gave the OK to take. But at the same time, wanting to tough it out and not have to take any medicine.

Did you get sick when you were pregnant? Did you take medicine or fight it off naturally?
