@sweetooth: Yup. I'll definitely update you all. It's still like that this morning. Google tells me that soft spots change all the time, or it's meningitis. Evil google.

@Danizaur: Hugs! FTM here too. I think you're doing all of the right things. And I'm glad you can take him in to the doctor's office today to get their opinion. I'm curious what you learn about the soft spot, will you share what the doctor tells you?

Enjoy the snuggles. And I hope he feels better soon

Still feeling poopy. Maybe even worse. So I'm waiting on the doctors office to open so I can call and get us in. At least I have a little snuggler out of all this. He normally doesn't like to snuggle!

@Danizaur: Aww poor baby! A fever is a good sign that his body is doing what it's supposed to do and fighting off the infection. Knowing that always reassures me when my kids get fevers. Just lots of snuggles, liquids, and motrin to make him more comfortable. I also like to rub baby vicks on their chest and bottom of feet if they have any kind of congestion. Hope he feels better soon!

@Danizaur: that's great, and I'm sure they'll reassure you that all is well. I'm interested to hear what it could be a symptom for, though! Their soft spots are so fascinating!

Have you tried a lukewarm/tepid bath? That might make him feel better and lower his temp. His temp isn't high enough to be alarming, but if it stays high or increases you can always call the after hours nurse to check in again.

I'm not sure about the protruding soft spot, though! Hope he feels better soon!

As long as his diapers are on track and he's acting normally I would just keep an eye on him (sorry, I KNOW how much the phrase "wait and see" sucks when it's your kid!). I'd be concerned if he started acting lethargic with even a low grade fever. Plus, at this age, he could be starting to teeth. E always ran a low-grade fever off and on when he was teething (and his first two popped in at 6 months or so?)

I would give him Tylenol if his fever is over 100 and keep an eye on him. Hope he feels better soon.

@Danizaur: good! I think babies being sick is harder on the parents than on the baby! C is almost 3 and my heart still crumbles if she is sick!

So, he's acting and eating fine without having been given any medicine? My gut says he's probably fine. Id just keep a close eye on him and if he starts acting off or it gets higher, i'd take him to a doctor.

Snuggles, Tylenol, and keep an eye out on his wet/dirty diapers. I THINK at that age they wanted at least 3 wet diapers in 24 hours.

T has been sleeping all day and feeling really poor. I've taken his temperature all day and it's stayed in the 99ish range. He had another 3 hour nap and I took his temp again and it was 100.4. He was warm from napping next to me so we waited and it was 100.7 at last check.

I called his ped today and they said to watch him overnight and see if he developed any more symptoms. They said as long as his temp was 100.4 or lower it would be okay. They're out of the office now and I'm hesitant to take him to the ER...it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. He's nursing fine and right now playing and chatting in his bouncer even though he's fussy and I can tell not feeling so great.

Advice? He's 5.5 months. :(

ETA: his soft spot is protruding a bit too
