I can really empathize with you. On the second day of daycare, Tobin got sent home sick one hour after I took him in and was sick for the rest of the week. Today he got sent home sick too, and it's only been three weeks at daycare. He was never sick before! I think I'm going to end up spending all of my vacation days taking care of him when he's sick from daycare - so frustrating!

My daughter didn't start daycare until she was 16 months old. Her first week we (mostly her and myself, somehow DH got away with getting a very mild case of it) got a stomach bug. It was probably only the third time in her whole life she was sick. But after that, it was mostly sniffles and coughs. She got a fever once, and was home for just one day. Around December though, she would get a cold almost as soon as one cleared up, until we took her out of daycare because I gave birth to her brother in February.

DD started daycare at 6 months but I think we've lucked out or she has a good immune system. She gets sick every once in a while but it hasn't been that painful. I am scared for the future about having 2 kids in daycare, though, germs will multiply!

Yeah I've been told to expect a lot of sickness in the first few months. Luckily hubs has the ability to work from home so he'll be on baby duty when we have to miss day care. The good news is by the time your baby gets to pre school she'll have an excellent immune system built up.

My LO got sick the first week...bronchiolitis. Then she got pneumonia 2 months later and various colds and sniffles since then. She stayed at home for over a week when she had pneumonia but otherwise she usually just misses a day with the more minor stuff.

Daycare is wonderful but GERMY!

We've had a lot of runny noses and coughs but only a few fevers. Usually she is home for about 2-3 days plus 2 weekend days.

DD just got over a cold 2 weeks ago (before she started preschool), and just last week was her first week of preschool and I noticed symptoms of a cold on Friday. One week into preschool and she's already sick! We kept her at home today and will probably keep her home all week because she's been running a fever and we want to make sure she's all better before sending her back and we don't want her to get other kids sick either!...

If you send your LO to daycare or preschool, how often do they get sick?? How sick do they have to be for you to decide to keep them at home?
