I wouldn't want to spread it to his parents, everyone in your house has already likely been exposed.

Well, he went to the doc and they couldn't diagnose flu, said we should be fine if he washes hands a lot, doesn't hold kids, doesn't cough on them... I'm torn. I'm going to see what he says, he's a pretty sensible guy.

I'd send him away. He'd probably be happy to have some quite time at his parents' empty house. My husband was sick for a while and I'm pregnant, so he slept on the couch and we pretty much stayed away from each other for a week or more.

A stomach bug should have different symptoms from the flu. So if he has stomach bug symptoms, Tamiflu won't help that. I voted keep him at home, just because you've all probably been exposed already.

I would send him to his parents house since there is no way to really separate him in your house.

If you had a 3/2 and he was quarantined to a bedroom and bathroom, then I'd say keep him home.

Obviously sanitize everything, change sheets and towels, etc.

I'm in the minority here but I'd absolutely get him out of the house!! Much rather solo parent for a day or two than have to deal with either kid getting a stomach bug!

I would send him to his parents- plus, if it was me, I would RATHER be alone at my parents house than in my house with the kids wanting me and listening to them, it would be a million times more peaceful anywhere else. And if it is a stomach bug with vomiting, that is still contagious until after he is totally better. If it's a bad cold then yeah, damage is probably done. I don't know what to say about tamiflu because I've never taken it and I don't know if it would do anything if the flu test came up negative.

We were in a similar situation a few weeks ago- Dh had a bad cold but was convinced it was the flu, and we are in a two bedroom. The toddler and I (and Dh) both had our flu shots but the baby is way too young. It was just a bad cold and the toddler got it but the baby and I were ok. I lysoled everything and washed everyone's hands a thousand times. And tried to keep him away from the baby in particular. But I was really resentful the whole time because he was just laying on the couch not helping, and it's not like I ever get a sick day! So in that sense it would have been better if he had someplace else to moan about being sick.

Wow, I disagree with the masses, I would send him to his parents house for sure. It's not like you're telling him to live on the street. He's in his parents home, he'll be more than comfortable. If he's sick he can't really help with the kids anyway so let him go get some rest while you don't have to stress about cross contamination. Yes it's possible the kids have already been exposed, but it's also possible that they haven't and as long as he has symptoms he continues to be contagious.

@avivoca: There isn't anywhere else the baby could sleep. I just sold our cosleeper yesterday and she's trying to sit up so I'm not comfortable with her in the Rnp. I guess we could sleep on the floor in DD's room....

I wouldn't banish him from the house, maybe just get him to stay in your room. Have lots of hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and Lysol on hand. Is there anywhere else that you and the baby could sleep? We don't share a bed when one of us has the flu and I wash the sheets immediately after whoever it is is better.

No, don't banish him. I would not be happy if that were even suggested to me and I were the one sick. Get Clorox wipes and fill the Tamiflu, that's my suggestion. Lots of hand washing, change the sheets. Germs travel in families, and there's not much that can be done. We all had the stomach flu 3 weeks ago, and we just got it again this weekend. DD has successfully avoided it so far, but I don't think that's our doing.

I hope he feels better!!

Alright, I'll get some Clorox wipes and not banish him. I'll keep him in our room and just not put baby down in there until I go to bed. Now the issue will be keeping the 3 year old away from her dad.

This just ran through our house, DS and myself got it first last week, DH came down with it over the weekend. I would not banish anyone from their own home when sick, plus you've all already been exposed. Lots of hand washing.

We don't have anywhere to go when one of us is sick so we have no choice but to ride it out. I lysol the heck out of everything. Doorknobs, toilet (entire thing), sink, etc. Anything that he could possibly touch or come into contact with. Get some clorox wipes to and wipe everything down too for extra support.

My husband is sick- went to doctor and flu test was negative (but it's possible it's a false negative). He has an Rx for Tamiflu but wasn't going to fill because it's so expensive. I have a 3.5 year old and a 4 month old at home, should I send him to stay at his parent's house? Chances are, he was contagious yesterday when he was around me/kids, holding baby, brushing DD's teeth, etc.... I don't want to get sick and I for sure don't want my little ones to get sick! So it's probably just a stomach bug, but still...............................
