@PrincessBaby: I hate that!!! I've done that exact same as you!

I don't like when my step-daughters are at our house and sick, their Mom has neglected to teach them to cover their mouths, and wash their hands! They get so annoyed with me because I'm constantly making them cover their mouths and wash their hands, I hear "but Mommy doesn't make us" all the time.. Drives me INSANE, and they're at daycare more than at home, and all I can picture is germs, germs, germs. I feel so awful for feeling like that, but I am so paranoid! I even make my son take a shower after school, lol. Yes I'm a freak!

Urgh! Snot snorters make me want to vomit!! Yeah, I hate that we live in a culture (certainly over here) where it's considered bad to call in sick to work - everyone's default thought is "they're faking it" or "they could totally come into work". I always work from home when I'm sick - but not everyone has that choice, DH is guilt tripped into going in when he's sick.

I am wary of everyone, even those that are not hacking up a lung! Yesterday I brought LO w/me tomy 6 wk follow up appt and a little girl there waiting with her mom, came over to me and baby, even though I had walked to a far deserted corner. She was like 4 or 5, and she wanted to know all about DD and was getting CLOSE! She reached out to touch her and I actually. Blocked her hand and said "No, you can't touch the baby bc babies can get really sick so we have to be careful..." But she wouldn't back away (she was literally hovering over us) and I picked the carseat up, put it on the other side so I was between the little girl and the car seat, and then put a blanket over the whole carseat and told the little girl the baby needed to sleep. I was hoping that would have been like, "Ok! Show's over!!!" But she KEPT HOVERING-like very very close- uncomfortably so! I was about 4 seconds from being like "WHOSE CHILD IS THIS???" When I fortunately got called back! I was starting to stress out!!! Cute kid- but a total germ bag as far as I"'m concerned!!

@Foodnerd81: I hear you! i walk to work, and the number of people i walk by who cough in my face without covering their mouths...SO gross! stay home, and if you can't, cover your mouth! i use my scarf to cover my face and don't breathe in their vicinity...it's hard living in a city where you are always in close proximity to so many people. and don't get me started on sick people coming to work...

@Foodnerd81: ick :-/ I can't stand when adults don't cover their mouth or when parents don't teach their kids to cover their mouth! In Costco the other day, some lady coughed in my direction without covering her mouth (like a bad, sick cough not a smokers cough) and I tend to play the blame game when I'm sick. Well, I'm sick. It's all her fault ;)

Oh this is driving me crazy! That and people claiming they have the flu when they obviously don't. A couple of days of sniffles isn't the flu - and if you really think you have the flu stay home!!! Not to mention people with a hacking cough not covering their mouth - isn't that basic knowledge? I totally sneer at people while holding my breath and running away. The flu is no joke this year!

It bothers me like crazy when people cough like crazy and then don't (fully) cover their mouths!! It's so gross!!! *shudders* Or when people snort up their snot. Omg!! I want to gag and throw up when I hear that sound....

I have plenty of sympathy for people when they are sick, I really do. I know, it sucks, and sometimes there are things you just need to do even when you are sick. BUT, I'm getting so tired of all the nasty coughing on the subway during my commute! This morning there was a guy who was coughing the entire time, barely covering his mouth at all, who sounded like it was the plague. Unless he was on his way to the hospital, he had no business being out of bed.
I'm extra paranoid this year, between all the news about flu outbreaks, and the fact that I'm pregnant, so it's really getting to me! I had my scarf over my face the whole train ride to try and avoid his germs (I was behind him, at least, so he couldn't quite see how rude I was) then washed my hands as soon as I got to the office.
I just wish people would stay home when they are sick, and cover the mouth completely if they have to go out. That's my rant!
