We're going through that right now. LO was sick and coughing this morning. Made it to daycare, only to turn around, call the doctor, and do an appointment. I had to wake him up today. Tomorrow, I'm working from home again. He'll get to sleep in then. I usually follow sleep cues, but he's been sleeping in so much that I've been late to work with it. Guess he sleeps when he's sick.

Poor little guy

At this point, I would give him until 2:30...if he's still awake, abandon ship.

So, it's 2:06. He's been in his crib since 1:15. Refused lunch, was acting cranky. So he got milk and Advil and the crib. Do I abandon ship? Take him for a drive? I thought he was tired!

@winniebee: I think that sounds good, unless he shows signs of being tired earlier. I think much past 2 will interfere with night sleep.

He slept until 945, 3 hours after he normally gets up for the day. He's on one nap so I think I will try at 2?

I"m sorry T is sick

I just let E sleep as long as he wants. He usually takes a nap about 3 hours after he wakes up, so I try to lay him down according to that. I'd push back bedtime a little if I had to, but since he's sick he's usually tired at the normal time anyway.

When C is sick he gets to sleep whenever he needs and typically it doesn't destroy nap, it just shifts it between other naps that otherwise wouldn't happen.

@winniebee: Poor little T! Feel better little man!

When B is sick, I let him sleep in. If he is sick, I will give him some advil to help him fall asleep, once he is asleep he is good at staying asleep.

Awwww poor guy :-(

Whenever DD is sick, I just go with her sleep cues. If she sleeps in, she is usually still ready for her nap around the same time (maybe 30 min later), and sometimes she'll need a little power nap before dinner.

If your toddler is sick do you let them sleep when they want?

T has a nasty cold (low fever yesterday). He was up a few times last night coughing (and coughed so hard he puked all over his bed). It's 9 am and he's still sleeping. He's usually up at 7 and has nap at 1. I'm just letting him sleep, I guess! When would you attempt nap? A little later than normal but not much later so he goes to bed on time at 730/8? (He is 17 months).
