Sorry to hear this! Hope you feel better soon. Lots of liquids and rest if you can! Knock that bad boy outta here.

ETA: I always get sick before major life events/travel. I think I let myself get too stressed out and stress = illness for almost every time.

I think it's pretty common to get sick in the last few weeks of pregnancy. It's happened to almost everyone I know. I hope the GP can help you out! Stay extra hydrated, eat some soup, and nap!

@MamaMoose: oh no. :( As uncomfortable as you are, I sure hope that baby waits until you get better to come into this world!! Get some rest this weekend, you know, as much as you can being hugely pregnant.

That sounds like me! But I was 39 weeks when I caught the cold! I remember hoping to have the baby for days before and all the sudden I was telling LO to stay in a little bit more.

I was told it was impossible to give LO my cold. I'm not sure how that is but she turned out fine. But delivery was hell since I was sooo super tired coming in. Positive thoughts that everything goes smoothly for you!

I bet your body will wait until you're healthy! I got sick at 38+5, was so worried about having baby while sick (and I got a cold sore, ugh)....! I was finally better 40+5, and had her at 41w!

Oh no! Neti pot, neti pot, neti pot. Eat chicken noodle soup like its your job. Steam showers with eucalyptus. Sleep lots and chug liquids. I hope you kick it before baby!

Yikes. This is not the positive reinforcement I was looking for!! If the GP tells me I need antibiotics I am going to wait until delivery to take them. But at least I'll have them to get started on right away!

oh no... I had a cold during my first delivery and it was horrible! I couldn't breathe thru one nostril and my epidural failed 3 times so I was so frustrated I couldn't breathe thru my nose. The nurses kept turning me so when I was on the side with the blocked nostril it couldn't drain. The cold didn't go away after delivery and although baby was ok because I was breastfeeding and he was getting all my good antibodies in my breastmilk, I developed a horrible ear infection (first in my life!) and my ear was blocked for TWO WEEKS. It is depression-inducing, seriously. I was ready to go to the doctor to get it drained via syringe (seriously!) when it finally unblocked in the parking lot of babies r us.

Whatever it takes to get rid of that cold, do it!! And if it continues, watch out for an ear infection and if you get one, start on the antibiotics immediately. I still get headaches at the spot behind my ear when it gets damp out. Never had that before I got that nasty ear infection.

I was SO sick with the worst head cold ever that lasted until 2 weeks pp. Don't worry, you can hold your baby and breastfeed and he/she will not get sick! I really hope you will be better by delivery, though. It was really horrible to be sick and taking care of a newborn for the first time!

I had a cold when I went into labor. I was being wheeled up to L&D and the nurse was telling me to breathe through my nose and I had to tell her that it wasn't possible due to my cold. It wasn't a big deal for me and no mask was necessary. I chose to breastfeed so my son was protected by my milk so there wasn't any risk to my son of him catching the cold.

Did anyone else have a bad cold when they delivered? I've been sick all week and this cold doesn't seem to be going any where (I'm going to see my GP to get checked out shortly). I'm 38w5d and given that I lost my mucus plug yesterday I could go at any time. Is there a risk to the baby if I'm deliver when I'm sick? Are the doctors and nurses at the hospital going to make me wear a mask to hold my own baby!?
