When I weaned completely, I was an emotional wreck! I never had any hormonal swings in the postpartum period, but once I finished nursing my 13 month old DD2 (after being pregnant, nursing, or both for 3.5 years straight), I was a mess. It took a good two weeks for things to stabilise and get back on an even kilter. It was the craziest thing and I certainly wasn't expecting so much emotional upheaval but I guess it makes sense when you think about it.

Oh, and yes, I was a bit nauseous on and off during that time as well... The things no one ever tells you about before having a baby... :silly:

Your hormones change a lot when you start the weaning process. Night sweats and being moody are common.

The emotional stuff could for sure be related to weaning - as your hormones change to decrease or cease milk production, it can be similar to the feelings of being recently post partum again. I haven't heard of nausea/sore boobs being related, but hormones are funny things and affect different people differently.

@Miss Flamingo: I think it can take a few cycles for everything to feel "normal" again. :)

@regberadaisy I've had three periods, so it hasn't been that recent. Which is one of the reasons I'm a little nervous, because I didnt feel this way when it first came back. But I just had one a week ago, which I logically know, means its really unlikely I'm pregnant. So I'm hoping im feeling so weird due to the period or weaning

How long have you had your period back? When my period first came back my hormones were crazy and lots of symptoms were pregnancy like.

Hello! I recently night weaned my 14 month old, got my period back and have been nursing less, but still 3 times a day. However, 3 times a day is significantly less than before. Now that I'm nursing less I've started to have some early pregnancy symptoms, but being pregnant seems really unlikely because it would mean my birth control failed. I've been feeling nausea, sore boobs, really emotional. I am hoping that these are the result of nursing less. Did this happen to anyone else?
