I would also just tell them let's go to brunch or have a pedicure/spa day together. If they really insist, call it a sprinkle and do brunch with a few friends and them.

I don't know how close you are to them.. If it were me and my SIL I will just tell her the truth and say can we just do something small!

Tell them you'd much rather just have a day with them. I'm sure they'll be relieved!! :)

I agree, just ask to do something fun together to celebrate instead! It's fun to celebrate new babies!

@T.H.O.U.: This is a great idea - have pedicures and a nice lunch with your SILs!

I would see if maybe just the 3 of you could find a way to go out and celebrate. I loved spending some good girl time with friends!

I wouldn't say no, I would embrace it. I was team no for a second shower and I regretted not having a celebration for baby. A celebration can be whatever you want it to be. It doesn't have to be a lunch for 15, it could just be a few of you going out for massages and pedicures.

I would say that instead of throwing you a shower, ask them to maybe do a small luncheon instead. It's still celebrating the baby, but maybe not as directed towards gift giving. Then, if no one else shows up, at least you can have lunch with your SILs.

So my first shower was thrown by two college friends, I invited all my friends in an hour radius (I don't have any family nearby and all my coworkers are guys)... and no one came except my hosts because they all have lives and/or forgot. I was a little bummed, but honestly, the invite list was less than 15 and I'm not much of a gift person, so whatever.

For this baby, I have 2 SILs living pretty close now that want to throw me a shower because they feel guilty about missing the first one.

It is a really nice gesture, but I just don't have a lot of people to invite and I'd hate for them to work hard on something no one shows up to again. And we certainly don't need anything since they're only 2 years apart and we're going team green again.

Ideas?
