That's a pretty rug. Will you be able to fit your table and chairs on it without any legs hanging off? If so, then I'd say it's big enough!

So the only item in our house after closing today is the jute/aqua rug...The initial rug I posted about is on order, but backordered until end of Sept:(. Whatevs, it's worth it.

Anyway, LOVE this jute rug, just wanted to see if you guys think it's too small for the space? Keep in mind that this is just the eat-in kitchen/casual dining area. We have a seperate formal dining room that I plan to make all "Woah!" And to go up to the next size would have been double the price - more than my dream living room rug!!

Do you think this is ok for a breakfast nook/eat-in kitchen table area?

Our stuff gets delivered tomorrow so I'll be able to se how it officially looks then:)

@petunia354: Thank you! We have a small rectangle table...It's a mahogany PB turned leg dining table with 4 chairs...I probably could have went up a size on the rug but it was exponentially more expensive:(

@PurplePeony: Thank you! I am not sure of the measurements bc the movers have it in storage:(. I am not sure of what the name of the table is, it's PB but we got on CL so I don't know the style name to get measurements- boo

@PrincessBaby: Generally, a rug under a dining table should be around 1.5-2 feet bigger on all sides than the table. You want to make sure the chairs stay on the rug even when they're pushed back and people are sitting in them, otherwise it gets to be a pain. So, for example, for a 48"x60" table (4'x5'), I'd go for a rug that's about 7'x9'. What size is the space and how big is the table?

Feiw, if anyone is looking to buy a rug, I'd recommend the site Iposted above...I noticed they are cheaper for both of these rugs than any other site plus they have 15% off right now...And when I called to see if I could arrange a specific delivery date since we dont move in for 2 more weeks, they were very accomodating!

@PrincessBaby: I really like the rug you just posted! FWIW, my living room and dining room are open to each other with wood floors and we don't have matching rugs. The living room rug is highly patterned with a red background. The one under the dining table is a dark indigo blue (solid color, but the wool has some variegation so it still has some visual interest). I think it's best not to be too matchy, as long as the rugs coordinate in some way -- let each rug define its own space and stand on its own! I think the ones you found will do that beautifully.

I also agree that sisal/jute is a good look. There's also the option of an outdoor rug that looks like sisal; that way it would be easy to clean up spills and not worry! I have a sisal rug and although I'm able to clean up stains somewhat it's nothing like an outdoor rug.
