Single, especially when the master and secondary bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house. One stories are easier to resell because they appeal to the entire market. Typically families with small children and older people won't buy a two story home. Also, I prefer not to have to sweep or vacuum stairs.

I've always owned a multi-story home. After being pregnant and having a LO, I have a new appreciation for a single story. Our next home will probably be a single story.

Single. Especially with a baby, I don't want to deal with stairs and lugging all of her crap up and down.

Multi, as I like having the bedrooms away from the rest of the living area.

Single story. I hate the stairs and carrying loads of things up and down them. I've only lived in a two story for 9 months once in college and that way more than enough for my lifetime.

I really wanted a two story house and that's what we got. Hubs and I both grew up in two story homes and after years of living in apartments having stairs just feels more homey. I also have an irrational fear of baby snatchers so I don't like first floor bedrooms where the windows can be accessed from the ground level.

If a basement doesn't count as a story, then single story with basement. I like being able to shut off part of the house and I like having a "cave", but I also prefer not toting vacuums up stairs and not spending so much in heating/cooling. That said, I also have recurring dreams about attics.

I like the look of 2 story homes. That is what we have.

ETA - we also have a basement. Not sure if that counts as an additional level.

Do you prefer single or multi story homes? I think i prefer multi story! I grew up in a tri level home with short staircases and I was always jealous of people with long staircases!
