One stories are easier to resell because they appeal to the entire market. Typically families with small children and older people won't buy a two story home. Hubs and I both grew up in two story homes and after years of living in apartments having stairs just feels more homey. I like being able to shut off part of the house and I like having a "cave", but I also prefer not toting vacuums up stairs and not spending so much in heating/cooling.
