@IRunForFun: yeah, I often throw up from post nasal drip I have a super weak stomach. Last time I threw up was Monday and the head pressure/pain is still there and now it's moved to my ear. If I'm not feeling better in the morning I'm calling the doctor.

Yikes! Are you sure it's sinuses? Headaches causing nausea and vomiting kind of sounds like a migraine to me. Sometimes I've confused the two. Have you tried Excedrin or something similar? Heat (warm moist cloth or rice pack) could help because that can relieve both sinus pressure and migraines!

You need the behind the counter med with pseudophedrine- the stuff on the shelf does nothing for me. You can get store brand or the brand name, doesn't matter but definitely get it from the pharmacist.
The neti pot/ nasal rinse will still help even if it's a sinus infection. From what I am told more than half of sinus infections will clear up on their own or are viral anyway, so no need to run out and try to get an antibiotic right away (at least that's what the doctor said when I went in for one a couple months ago). But in my case I tried to ride it out and do none antibiotic things for ages until I broke down and took the antibiotics and t got better within days.

The things that helped me were the sinus rinse, Flonase, sudafed (the real stuff), and saline spray. But eventually I needed the antibiotics. I couldn't take anything stronger because I'm breastfeeding.

@Bao: the off brand stuff is still good if you as for the equivalent of Advil cold and sinus

Most sinus meds make me crazy or do nothing, but this one always works.

Nasal flush-Neilmed is a great one. Use distilled water for the saline solution and cleaning it. Ayr nasal gel. I've had a week of coughing, gross nose stuff, etc. I gave up and went to immediate care yesterday for antibiotics.

Ugh, I know how hard it is to go see a doctor, but can someone watch the kids while you do? You might need a prescription. Antibiotics aside, I had a really bad case when I was pregnant and couldn't take anything, so I tried heating with eggs, and also eating lots of wasabi on my food. The wasabi helped big time.

Are you taking OTC stuff?

Try Advil cold and sinus from behind the counter. It's the only thing that touches sinus pressure for me. That and a heat pack (just avoid your eyes)

Usually when it hurts it's too late for a netti pot for me. And if it's an infection, you don't want to accidentally push anything up deeper

@Bao: Do it. I had to take H last time (and she had to go to her doctor too, so she was terrified that they would cath her again, poor thing), but it's better to get on top of it now than let it drag out and feel miserable.

Man a terrible cold just went through our house too.
I take guaifenesin - I just look for whatever store brand has it as the only ingredient. It's supposed to thin out your mucus to help with chest congestion - but I think it also helps with my sinuses.
Neti pot.
Steam with tea tree oil. I just rubbed some tea tree oil on my chest and under my nose like it was Vicks.

Heat! Use some hard boiled eggs right out of the pot (wrap them in paper towels or wait until they cool down a touch), or small heating pads. Put them on both sides of your nose, right under your eyes, until they stop feeling warm. Repeat every few hours if you can manage it. The OTC spray like Afrin helps too, just be careful with it because it can cause rebound congestion if you use it for too long.

I've been suffering from some really bad sinus pressure, my head feels like it's going to explode and it also caused nausea/vomiting a few days ago. I've tried sinus headache meds and they aren't helping. Just took an allergy pill to see if that helps. I've tried breathing in steam from a pot of water...any other tips? I'm miserable and want some relief!
