@Mrs. Polish: I think she was around 5-6 weeks old as well.

She was born mid August and we had the event at my moms house (5 hour drive) at the end of September.

@Mrs. Polish: Yes, it was great! Everyone just sat around and chatted. There was no organized "activities". People were able to hold her (she slept mostly) and then for one period, I had to take her to the other room to nurse. Everyone was really nice about giving her back. The only thing was that at the end of the party she smelled like a mix of everyone's perfume and cologne.

We also weren't sure if we should open gifts since it was just an open house but we ended up waiting until a lot of guests left and then opened while a few of the close friends and family were still around.

@T.H.O.U.: An open house sounds like an excellent idea.

@Mrs. Polish: When we had ours, it was a bit of an open house, so it wasn't a big deal for us to sneak away for about 30 minutes. Everyone understood what was going on.

A Sip & See is how I want to celebrate my baby too.

New borns sleep and eat alot. I hear they can practically fall asleep anywhere. Are you open to having a rock n play in the living room so people can observe him napping? Same thing for when you or anyone else feeds him. Could you move his nursery glider into the living room or designate a "nursing" chair (ppl will get up too if asked)? You could set up a side table with a couple burp cloths, coaster for a drink and a coaster for his bottle. This way you and him are still visible in the party.

Don't see what the issue is really? It is an event celebrating new life.. You are there with a new baby. Of course you will need to tend to the newborns needs through feeding and caring. I would be amazed if everyone wasn't hugely supportive of that, even more so at an event celebrating BABIES!

Good Luck and hope you have fun!

We have a shower this weekend and Isaiah isn't quite on a regular schedule. I don't know how to handle if he wants to eat during the.shower. feeding can sometimes take 30-45 min. Any suggestions on how to handle the shower with the baby?
