@hellobeeboston: I was going to recommend that Chicco! I have played with it in the store and loved it. It was $40 cheaper right after BRU announced they were closing :bummed:

@hellobeeboston: I second @lamariniere: - Lisbon is very hilly, I wouldn't want to push more than a single (and relatively light) stroller there. I would suggest getting something like a Mountain Buggy Nano (single) - it's a step up from an umbrella, but still light and folds up very compact - and having your 5.5 year old walk.

I never thought our son (now also 5.5) could do the amount of all-day walking that we do on vacation, but we were in Rome last summer and he had no choice, and did great. We would stop in cafes to rest our legs from time to time, but it was nice for everyone to have a break. Before our trip, I was also looking into all kinds of double stroller options, but I'm glad we just brought a single stroller.

Have a wonderful trip, Lisbon is fantastic (and we also love Porto, if you end up going there too)!

@hellobeeboston: we went to Portugal when DS was about 15 months. Lisbon is extremely hilly (so is Porto if you are going there too). If you are doing a place like Sintra, a stroller, even a single, is going to be a huge pain (I wouldn’t even bother). I would probably take a single umbrella stroller. Maybe get one of those ride on boards if you must.

@Mrs D: my oldest almost NEVER uses the stroller, except when we're doing a TON of walking... which I imagine we will be doing.

We did a 3 mile walk this weekend, and he scooted for 2/3 of it, then wanted to sit in a friends stroller... so that really got me thinking about this issue.... yeah, buying a super cheapie and just leaving it could totally work too!

@hellobeeboston: I would definitely look in to renting...that was a great recommendation. I personally would want a stroller as well but depending on how much your older is likely to be in the stroller may just be compelled to bring a single...if your oldest uses the stroller a lot you could maybe buy a second cheaper unbrella there and just leave it?

@MrsTal: that stroller looks great, but pricey for my single use purpose.

@Mrs D: Ok thanks. Yeah, that could be an issue, especially with cobblestones.... i'm thinking one would probably be walking most of the time anyway, but I liked the option of having two seats, and a place to put our stuff.

Are you going to a tourist-heavy area? You may be able to rent one. I live in Maine, and I think there are three stroller-rental places around. Not cheap, so you'll have to weigh the costs, but maybe a simpler idea?

We are looking at buying a Zoe xl2 best v2 as a travel stroller, it's not sit and stand but it's 17 lbs and folds down easily plus you can buy a backpack to put it in for travel. Each seat holds 50 lbs and they seem to constantly have open box returns for a discount that you can stack a 20% off coupon on top of as well. Only negative is that they aren't sold in stores so you can't try it out but they will let you ship it back for only $10 if you want to try it out in your home.

I have a Joovy Caboose. DD1 is about 35lbs, DD2 is about 30lbs - so 65lbs together. It is easy to fold, would be ok for travel. My only gripe is - its kind of a pain to maneuver - especially loaded with two kids. You definitely cant push it one handed. The front being two wheels makes it real difficult off pavement.

We generally opt to take out B Agile and just make the kids take turns on the off chance DD1 wants to ride.

oh, also, my two kids together are definitely over 50+ pounds. So thinking this might be an issue.

It looks like the Joovy Caboose could handle both of them.

Hey all. We're traveling abroad this summer and I'm trying to figure out what stroller to get/borrow for our trip.

We have a 2.5 & 5.5 year old. The first week we plan on doing a lot of sightseeing and think we will definitely need a stroller. And I like the option of one being able to stand. This is pretty much a one-time use, so i'm going to give to my sister after or re-sell it. OR, i'm hoping I can borrow one.

I was looking at the Sit N Stand or the joovy caboose.

THOUGHTS???

Ideally it will fold down and be pretty lightweight for airport travel, etc.

HELP :)
