Kids that have an atypical start to life have atypical development. What is important is that they are showing improvement.</p> <p>Do you ever help her get the whole way over when she gets that close? She was swaddled a lot at first because she was having withdrawals. She’s been sitting for at least a month but only recently started rolling in the last week or so. She was doing that side to side thing like in your picture for a while before actually doing a complete roll. However, I’d say if you are concerned at all, go with your gut. My first DD has plagiocephaly (flat head) from lying on her back but her ped said it seemed normal. We ended up seeing a different doctor who referred us too physical therapist. The PT specialized in plagiocephaly and gave us some homework to increase her neck strength and she showed a ton of improvement after that. It's funny, N does not seem too interested in being mobile (although over the last week or so she's working harder to actually roll), but she sure isn't relaxed about anything else. She is SOOO adorable! 😍 I love her gorgeous hair AND just LOOK at those legs! 💕 </p> <p>Ok, now that I'm done admiring her mass adorableness... My DS sat up for extended periods unassisited (1 to 1-1/2 minutes) around 5 1/2 months but had only rolled over a handful of times. He was great with tummy time and could extend himself to an "upward facing dog sun salutation" but was not interested in mobilizing. He was late to crawl and it was more of an Army crawl (* Fitting as DH was Active Duty at the time 🤣). He was also late to walk on his own (unsupported) and did so at 18 mos even if he was able to "walk" supported from 7 mos on. His pediatrician stated he was a lackadaisy baby who "knew he could do it but had no need to prove his abilities and was in no rush" (verbatim). At nearly 4, DS can complete somersaults, "up-downs," walk a low high beam (quite the oxymoron, there. Lol), and dance better than his 10-year-old sister. His only delay has been one we did NOT expect - a severe speech delay. She has her 6m appointment later this month, but other than mentioning it there I don't see much of a need to push for a referral yet. She also never really crawled. My ped wasn't concerned as long as she was learning new things and progressing. I blame it on her rigidity that she's been dealing with since birth due to prenatal drug exposure. She's been very happy lying flat on her back, and her body tends to arch instead of bend. Until recently, she never lifted her legs up while lying down, so she just didn't even try to roll. We couldn’t do tummy time because he had some respiratory issues and we were instructed not to as it would be too much stress on his lungs. He sat independently at 5 months and probably didn’t roll until maybe 9 or 10 months? He started walking 2 weeks after his first bday. Did your baby roll shortly after or just go to crawling/scooting? N will be 6 months on Monday and is sitting for up to maybe 30 seconds or a minute unassisted, but hasn't rolled over. Well, she rolled from front to back once or twice early on, but it was completely accidental and she hasn't since. She's VERY close to getting from back to front, but can't get her giant head off the floor. :silly: She seems pretty on target developmentally otherwise, but our adoptions worker asked in her last visit if she'd been referred for a regional center assessment yet. She hasn't, but I'm wondering if I should be pushing for one. </p>
