our car was essentially a giant, vibrating bouncy chair for many months of Junior's life. it makes me laugh to think of how Tina and I tried sometimes to eat in-car meals and such while he was sleeping, or one of us sneak out of the car while the other stayed - moving super slowly and silently, SWAT-team style hand gestures to communicate... we were like two paranoid mimes in the front seats.

but he slept, and well... and that's all that matters.

we don't have a car so we leave charlie and olive asleep in the stroller. but if it's close to bedtime, we usually wake them up by a cutoff time unless they had poor naps and/or were sick.

If my son falls asleep in the car, which is rare, I take him out of the seat and bring him to his crib. Sometimes he wakes up a bit, but I'd rather he continue the sleep in his crib.

Mine is still in his infant seat, so I carry him in that and usually hope he stays asleep unless it's bedtime. If I'm out shopping and I'm with someone else, I leave him in the car with them so I can just run in really quick.

I have probably spent a few DAYS of my life in the car while RJ was napping. Maybe WEEKS. Thank God for smartphones and car chargers! I'd also keep snacks and magazines in the passenger seat. I always wished there was a drive-thru where you could text in your order and CC number, and they'd silently hand you your food at the window.

@Rubies: We used to carry her in when she was still in her infant seat. Now she's in a convertible so it's either wait it out or wake her.
Luckily we've had a really mild winter! 61 degrees today :) Plus we were in the garage :)

I carry her in and hope she stays asleep. But, most of the time she wakes up. I can't really sit in the car because it's Toronto and winter. LOL...It's too cold!

I usually wait unless it is really close to bedtime. The transfer thing never works for us. She wakes up every time, except for when she was small and still in the infant seat.

It depends! I've sat in the car before but usually I try to get her in still sleeping if possible....I've been successful a couple times but not many ;P

LO fell asleep on our way back from the market.. Blah. It's almost her bedtime! I'm sitting in the car with her until she wakes..
I probably should have woken her as soon as we got home, but she's been super cranky and tired lately.

Do you wake your baby when you get Home or do you wait until they wake?
