I did 7 hours at 35 weeks and it was fine. I think we only stopped twice.

I never stopped every hour for a road trip, and we drove 20+ hours when I was 32 weeks. Just got back from a 9 hour one at 22 weeks. We stopped fairly often for me to pee, but I went at least 3 hours at a stretch some of the time. Definitely not a big deal!

@oliviaoblivia: @Pumuckl: @miramira: Thanks for giving the perspective that coworkers aren't (generally) mean people, and won't mind if the pregnant lady needs to stop.

@MamaG: Thank you! You said exactly what I wanted to hear for someone else!!

You'll be fine. I think you have a good game plan. I think stopping every hour would probably be excessive.

I travelled around 6 hours by plane then bus at around 20-21 weeks. I just did pretty much everything you've mentioned: keeping hydrated, leg exercises, compression socks, changing the position I was sitting in, etc. If you can stop to get our and stretch, do it. I'm sure your coworkers wouldn't mind the break either!

I went on a couple of long car trips and plane rides and was fine. Compression stockings definitely helped also my colleagues were extremely nice and helped with luggage etc. just like @oliviaoblivia said.

I did ten hours with one break at 32 weeks. You'll be fine.
Your coworkers will stop if you need to, don't be afraid to speak up. People like to take care of pregnant women, relish it!

We'll be driving Maryland to New England and back this summer when I am 22-23 weeks. I hadn't even thought about how much longer it is going to take us with having to stop all the time!

I drove 7 1/2 hours at 34 weeks for a job interview and took my son. We stopped a couple of times for food and potty and didn't have any issues. I always feel that I get more swollen when traveling but I think that has more to do with going from sea level to elevations. You will be just fine. Have fun!

hmm...I'm going on an 11 hour road trip when I'm 32-33 weeks pregnant, and just plan to stop about every two hours because I know I'll be peeing super frequently at that stage.

Dh and I went on a trip 6hrs away when I was 30 weeks...I had no issues besides needing an extra bathroom break or two. My sister is a ROCK STAR and just drove across Canada for their move - a 58 hour trip- at 36 weeks. she said it wasn't too bad!!!

Have fun!

My boss asked me if I wanted to go to the largest trade show for the industry that I work for. Given I just switched industries a year ago when I started this job a year ago, I very excitedly agreed. The problem is it is a two-day/one-night trip, six hours away, and I'll be 24 weeks pregnant-- so twelve hours of sitting in less than 48 hours. My OB cleared it, but suggested that I stop every hour to walk around for a minute. I'm going with at least four other people, so I don't really want to inconvenience them too much. Would elevating my legs (i.e., putting my overnight bag under my feet like an ottoman), stretching in the car (ankle flexes, knee bending), hydration, and compression socks be enough if we stopped only once or twice? Any other suggestions for surviving a long car ride?
