My daughter was a good sleeper until she hit about 4.5 months, which is when her sleep started regressing. Now she's six months old and wakes up about 3 times a night. I just nurse her back to sleep each time. It almost feels like I'm back in the newborn stage :( I'm hoping it's due to teething and developmental leaps! Hang in there!

My son was a great sleeper and slept through the night early on. But literally the exact day he turned 6 months he started waking again. Usually just once. But 8 months he was back to consistently sleeping through the night.

Sometimes babies just so weird things for a while. We try to let her go back to sleep in her own if it happens. If she is just making noise or fussing a little, we don't go in the room. If she cries we go in and give her her paci and reassure her and leave. If that doesn't work (usually it does t get to this point), we'll feed her and she will typically go to sleep after. It doesn't usually last more than a few days.

I also think the six month regression is common :crying: . DD just moved out of the RNP at 4 months and we got the merlin sleep suit so it was a pretty easy transition. Hope yours is too!

Dealing with something similar! My babe is 6.5 months and we used to have one wake up at 4am (which I was fine with since she'd sleep in a bit). Now she's waking up screaming some nights about 30-60 minutes after going down and will only settle when I nurse her. Other nights she'll wake up around 10:30 (same story, have to nurse her to get her to calm down). Naps have fallen to shit too. So frustrating!

@stillme: Six months was a rough patch of sleep for us. Multiple wakeups after good sleep sucked. Thankfully it seemed to be a growth spurt/developmental leap amd after 2-3 weeks he went back to 1 wakeup a night. Hang in there! It will hopefully be better soon!

@mrswin: you're right, of course, about the bottles. I'm hoping for a magic bullet, when I know I just need to wait it out.

@pawprints: thanks for sharing what's working for you. I guess I'm feeling frustrated because I tried hard to create good sleeping habits, and had a good sleeper (probably has everything to do with her, and nothing to do with me), and now I don't know what's going on!

Sorry y'all are going through it too, but I'm glad we can swap stories.

I feel like this is super common around six months. We've also seen a new wakeup appear around 3-4am when she had been STTN. We tried letting her hang out and fuss to see if she'd go back to sleep but I end up nursing her. Then sometime she sleeps past our usual wakeup time, sometimes way past it! I'm just rolling with it and trying to go to bed earlier every night myself to make up for the lost sleep.

@stillme: If she is leaving milk in the bottle I don't think I would increase the ounces at this point. My DD is getting 3 or 4 4oz bottles of BM depending on how long I am gone for that day

So my LO is a little younger than yours (5.5 mo) but he was reliably STTN at 4 months and before that had 1 wake-up between 4 and 6 am. Then, he started teething - crazy wake-ups. He got his teeth in and I expected his sleep to go back, but it hasn't. He could still be teething his top teeth.... I don't know but it addition to multiple night wake-ups they are always at random times (2 nights ago, only 1 5 am wake-up, up for the day normal like of 7:30, last night a 2 am wake-up and up for the day at 6? there seems to be no rhyme or reason). So no advice, just commiserating.

Tired mama is tired. :-)

Growth spurts have to end sometime though, right? Do you think adding an ounce to each her daytime bottles at daycare might improve her nighttime sleep?

Her caretaker told me earlier this week that my baby started leaving an ounce or so in her bottle at each feeding, then she'd drink the rest about an hour later. She drinks three 5 ounce bottles at a rate of one every three hours.

I need some advice.

My six month old baby is suddenly waking up 2-3 times during the night, and I don't know why!

Some background: Last week she had a cold, and I assumed that she had trouble falling and staying asleep due to her congestion. I would suction her nose, and nurse her back to sleep. Now her cold is mostly gone, but we're still waking up 2-3 times per night. I try to comfort her without nursing, but it makes her mad.

She has been such a good sleeper up until this point. Usually 11 hours/night, and falling asleep on her own. She sleeps in a rock-n-play, which I know we need to get her out of (and will do this weekend since her sleep sucks anyway).

Any advice? Is this a prolonged six month growth spurt? Teething? Did I create an expectation for middle of the night nursing? Something else I can't see because I am so, so, so tired?

Please help Hellobee!
