Meals include multiple items- protein, fruit, veggie, fat (cheese/dairy etc). Snacks are just one thing- a banana or apple sauce or goldfish or something. He eats 3 largish meals and probably 3 snacks.

Somewhere in between? There's usually a fat and protien present everytime she eats. Snacks are usually something like a black bean, spinach and cheese quesadilla triangle and an apple sauce or a scrambled egg and blueberries.... Meals are usually the same kind of guidelines (protien, fat and fruits and/or veggies) just in larger portions. That's just what I've found works for my LO though. Prior to eating this way she was waking up for breakfast at like 530 am. She seems to get more of what she needs if her snacks are basically small versions of meals. I eat with her and I actually feel more satisfied eating this way too!

Dinner is usually a meat/starch/veggie.

Snack is usually one item, like a yogurt or piece of fruit.

My LO is 17 months, and I'm wondering about how the size of meals should compare to snacks at this age. Do your toddlers really eat 3 bigger meals and 2 snacks or is it more like 5 small meals? Thanks!
