18 month in Carter's is actually huge on my almost-13 month old and he's already grown out of 12 months so I'd be worried that it'd be too big. My kiddo is 23 lbs if that gives you an idea. He's still wearing his 6-9 month swimsuit and it fits really well.

Last year I got DS a rashguard and trunks for our trip to FL when he was 4 months and sized up, maybe to a 9m? It was big on him but still looked really cute. And then he ended up wearing it the few times we needed a swimsuit over the summer. So I say size up, it'll still look cute and it'll last longer.

For us, LO is always smaller in shorts than tops, so my LO will be wearing 2T tops this summer and prob 9 mo shorts. I'd probably just keep it and get an extra set of shorts that are 12 mo. If the top is large it won't matter too much.

I would get both. I'm not too picky with clothing but I agree that for swim wear they look better in the correct size. I also think it's convenient to have more than one if you are in water a lot. Sometimes one hasn't finished drying when you want to go in the water again and it's no fun to put on a wet swim suit.

I voted keep the 18 month size. But my boys are on the huge side. My 26 pound 9 month old is currently outgrowing his 18 month clothes from Carter's. I always prefer bigger. I'd rather him grow into it than out of it.

But I also have about 4-5 swimsuits for the summer, so I would just buy both sizes.

At nine months my 99%er was wearing 12 or 18 in Carters depending on the item.
Two suits sounds about right.

Blake sounds about the same size right now. He wears 12 month Carter's right now, although he's usually a size down in bottoms. I think by summer, Blake will mostly be in 18 month Carter's although his growth has really started to slow down (he's 9 month now). My guess is the swimsuit you got T will be too big in May, but fit great by August.

rash guards should be fitted not baggy - I would think an 18 month would be way too big!

Unfortunately, he will probably fit the 12 month at the beginning of summer and the 18m at the end of summer, but it's hard to say!

My DS has always been big (born over 9 pounds and always in the 95+%) and has always fit the "right" age/size in Carters. So at 18m, he wore size 18m.

I think it also depends on the build of your little guy. I think Carters runs a bit short and a lot wide. Since my dude is tall and thin, babyGap always fit him better.

Long story short, it's hard to say!!

Help! I ordered a bunch of stuff from Carter's a few weeks ago and I'm currently obsessing about whether I got the right size.

I ordered an 18 month for his swimsuit and rash guard. At the beginning of summer, T will be 9 mos (he was born in August). We live in the South so summer is usually May to September.

He is currently wearing 9 mos Carter's and is in a mix of 6 and 9 mos in other brands. He is about 19 pounds. He is in the 75th percentile for weight and 80th percentile for height.

Would you send back the swimsuit and rash guard for 12 mos or keep the 18 mos?

Some factors:
1. He will be spending TONS of time in / near water - we have a pool and a lake house. Don't judge, but I want him to look adorable... I worry a huge swimsuit will impact this.
2. He has grown like gang busters his entire life. To put his current weight in perspective, he was born 6 lbs 13 ozs.
3. He is EBF - I think this plays a role in growth slow down, but I'm not sure?
4. We will have access to a pool in the fall.

Thoughts? If you got through this, thank you - I realize this isn't a big deal, but I have been obsessing (first time mom problems / first world problems)
