So creepy! But it was probably a scam, they were hoping you'd bite so they can get your personal info.

@tofuwad: you did remind me to change my voicemail. I use my phone professionally, so it has my full name and some information about when I'm in my office. I mostly use my desk phone now, and only give my cell number to active clients, so I think I will change it to be a little more private.

@mrsrain: i googled the number and nothing comes up. i also tried to figure out the international code, but its 12-digits and doesn't seem to be a "real" phone number of any kind. I was reading that I guess people can route calls through online software that makes it harder for cell phones to block (like a lot of phones can't block international numbers).

I would file a report. I kept getting messages like this but for some guy named Frank. I guess he used to have my number? Not sure but I changed my voicemail message to include my first name and they eventually stopped.

If you have an iPhone you can block the number from texting/calling you. Have you googled the number?

Sorry, just read your post again and realized you have an old flip phone. Weird that they can't block it for you, though!

Just wondering if I missed anything in my response to some sketchy calls I started getting last night.
I received a text a little after midnight. It has several misspellings and some words are repeated multiple times, but it basically reads "we are here to tell you that if we don't hear from you soon you will have yourself to blame."
I then started receiving about one call an hour (two of them were within 5 minutes of each other, the rest were spaced out by about an hour) from this number. The calls stopped around 8:30 am.
I didn't reply to the text and have not answered any of the calls.
The calls are from a 12-digit phone number that doesn't seem to match any international code (making me suspect it's some routing method?).

My cell phone carrier (att) can't block the number from my phone because I have a really old flip phone (Luddite, what can I say). The told me to make a police report.
My state police were basically like "there isn't much we can do, you can file a formal report if you want." I haven't done that, because the calls have stopped.

At this point if they start up again my plan will be to change my number (and probably, reluctantly, upgrade my phone while I'm at it...id been putting it off).

Is there anything else I should do? I was really freaked out last night, but now I'm just kind of annoyed and assuming it's some attempt at a scam?
