If you have confirmed melanoma, they keep a VERY close eye on you and I think the recommendation is quarterly checks for two years, and then if they don't find anything else, you drop down to checks every 6 months. </p> <p>For my husband, he has no history in his family so he goes much less frequently, maybe every other year. For my children, I've only taken one of them to a derm for a suspicious mole. My brother has advanced melanoma so I don’t mess around. The first year I went the doctor removed a mole that turned out to be a basal cell carcinoma, so since then I do get nervous. They’ve removed one more mole since then that was fine. I’m a year overdue for my check because of covid.
