In the beginning I liked both snaps and zippers and winter baby so preferred footed. Now that she wiggles so much zipper is easier. But she's a hot baby and it's summer so now a onesie does the trick.

I preferred zipper footed sleepers bc their little feet are cold! My LO hated being swaddled!

Target has footed zippered sleepers. :)

@Foodnerd81: I preferred the footed sleeper almost exclusively until recently (4 months). Only now I'm more comfortable with the footless kinds because she is getting longer and feet are growing out of some of the "footed" parts. I also heard the zippers were better, but honestly, I hated them! I didn't like having to unzip all the way for changes also, and K seemed to cry all the time in the zipper ones. IDK if it was coincidence, but I kept worrying about the zipper part poking her neck area.

@78h2o: you make a good point about the footless. We moved R to 3-6 cause she outgrew the length but they are so big on her. She is in sleep sack so it doesn't really matter.

LO is 6 days old and we love the footed sleepers. His feet are always freezing, and socks are more of a pain. We like Carter's and The Children's Place.

I never could use the footed ones on him since he had such shirt legs, so we've always used footless. I love the Hannah Andersson ones. We put him in gap socks, which tend to stay on all night.

I actually thought snaps were harder to find than zippers. I prefer snaps and footless last a bit longer if you have a long baby.
I've been able to use the footed ones still because I let her feet hang out. Carter's is a good brand.

I definitely prefer the zipper as I don't change him at night anyway usually. Target has some good ones. I think the brand is Gerber. If our LO wears the footless Carter's ones, we put him in a sleep sack. Otherwise we don't usually.

It never occurred to me that the snaps were better for not having to undress them completely for changes (though it seems really obvious now!)

LO will be a summer baby, so it sounds like a mix of feet and not for the first few months will be fine.

@78h2o: Pretty sure the sock eating is an irrational fear, but now that's in my head too!

@Foodnerd81: we did 100% footed.. trying to keep socks on his little feet was futile! Carters has zipper and snaps. We went back and forth on what our favorite was - zipper is so easy when you're half asleep, but you have to completely unswaddle for changes. Snaps are easier that you can just undo the bottom but we often found we got baby goo on the sleeper anyways because it wasn't completely out of the way.. .and trying to match them up correctly is a pain.

LO LIVED in sleep and plays until he was 4 months. So. Easy. Love them.

I prefer footless because my LO is tall and they last longer that way. She's either swaddled or in a sleep sack anyway. No socks - J is always losing them and I'd be afraid she'd choke on a stray sock (whether that's rational or not).

I liked both zip and button. Zip is faster, but in the winter/newborn stage, button was better because they allowed LO to stay dressed up top and she didn't notice as much that she was being changed (which she hated).

Favorite brand is Bonds but I can't find it here (sister got some in Australia). I like Gap, Old Navy, and Carters..

I like the footed ones but we do have some without feet that I had her wear during the day. I liked snaps better cause in the beginning you have a diaper change at every feeding. R would cry and cry cause she was cold so at least her top half was covered. Even if the zipper is easier in the middle of the night

For the first few months, I hear babies wear a lot of one piece sleep and play / sleeper kind of things. Do you prefer the ones with feet or the footless ones? Carters has some seriously cute footless ones, but would I then be worrying about socks? Does it not matter if they are swaddled anyway?

I know my sister's baby had really big feet and outgrew the feet in his sleepers early on but I think that's pretty rare, right?

ETA: Oh-- and any recommendations of brands that have the zip up ones (vs the snap up)? I hear those are easier but they are hard to find.
