Sorry you aren't getting much rest. I have the same problem, if I have to get up in the middle the night (and who doesn't when you have a baby?!?), it is very difficult for me to go back to sleep. The only thing I have found that helps is that if I do get up: do not look at my phone or turn the tv on. Just do whatever (nurse, bottle, whatever) and keep things as boring as possible. I also read about this other technique.....http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/ART00521/three-breathing-exercises.html
And it will help sometimes. Also, I turn the clock away from me because I then look keep looking at the clock and feeling more and more anxious about how little sleep I am getting. Hope you get some rest soon!

I feel like what works for each person is so different! For me personally, I don't nap. Pretty much ever (unless maybe my husband is around in the morning and I can sleep at like 8am). If I sleep any time in the afternoon it gives me a second wind and I can't sleep at night. Also for me, even if I AM tired, I need to wait until I FEEL tired to try to sleep. I tend to go to bed late(ish) and sometimes when I'm behind on sleep I go to bed really early (even though at that point I don't really feel tired) to try to catch up but it ALWAYS backfires and I end up laying there awake and frustrating for hours. So I just wait until I actually feel tired even if it is later than I think I should go to bed, but at least I actually sleep then. Also sometimes counting works for me when I have a wakeup that I'm having trouble falling asleep after. Like I try just counting as high as I can and breathing with the counting (in 1-2-3-4, out 5-6-7-8, etc). It sort of keeps my mind from wandering into more interesting/worrying things that keep me awake. And sometimes I do this thing they had us do in yoga called a body scan where you start from your head (eyebrows) and work down noticing each muscle and tensing then releasing it. Eyebrows, cheeks, jaw, tongue, neck, shoulders, biceps, hands, back, waist, butt/hips, quads, shins, and feet. And it really helps me feel relaxed....

The LOs haven't been sleeping well the last few days. LO2 is teething/about to learn to crawl and pull up and is up several times a night. Lo1 has had a few nightmares and early wake ups and no nap yesterday.

I am so exhausted. Yesterday I was so tired I was shaking. And then...I couldn't sleep. After LO2 woke up at 1:45 I was up until almost 5. Then LO woke up at 6.

I am so so tired. Any tips for dealing with insomnia? How to get through the day? Is it best to power through so you are tired at night, or to try to rest?
