@jennlin821: @DesertDreams88: he uses a stuffed animal as a lovey.. but he throws it out of the crib as well...

I guess its time to move him to a bed.. maybe sleeping with his brother will ease his fears? He was so irritable before his naptime... never had this happen with DS1

yikes, that bump is bad! I would move him to a bed. You'll have to do it soon anyway and if his sleep is already crap, you might as well get it over with.

We moved to a bed at 19-20 months and introduced pillows and stuffed animals gradually 20-24 months. He loves them and it calms him.

Poor little guy!! Sounds to me like separation anxiety. My DD never had it as an infant and then she suddenly started waking up screaming for us. And during the day she suddenly gets very concerned if she can’t see us, it’s like played by Marco Polo!

Does he have a lovey? I think you might need to try a few different things to fix it, and it could just be a sleep regression that you’ll have to survive for a bit. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. Hopefully other bees will chime in!

@jennlin821: We waited about five minutes before going to get him. But then he started with the head banging and we are getting to him immediately before he hurts himself even more. He sleeps with two pacifiers, but he throws them away knowingly!

Could be teething as he is still missing some molars. It seems to me as if he is scared of something... but I can't understand what it is.. :crying:

How long are you waiting to go in?

Can you put more than once pacifier in the crib? DD has a mesh bumper and 4 pacifiers in each corner so that they don't fall out and she can always reach one.

I'm also wondering if his nap is too close to bed time?

Also, could he be teething or having some separation anxiety? We've been dealing with this a little bit, its hard to figure out if we should go in and snuggle, because she really needs to see us, or if she woke up cuz her teeth are hurting.

DS is 26 months and the past week his sleep has gone through the window..

He normally goes to bed at 7-7:30 pm and wakes up at 6-6:30 am. He takes a 2 hour nap from 1:30-2 pm to 4 pm. He sleeps with a pacifier, sound machine and blackout courtains.

Ever since he was 18 months he used to wake around 2 am dropping his pacifier once a week. We went to his room and gave him back his paci and he went back to sleep no problem.

But this past week has been terrible. He started by dropping his paci, but refused going back to sleep and started banging his head on the crib. One night he woke up at 4 am and after an hour of us going back and forth to his room, we brought him to our bed, but he didnt went back to sleep. So he was up for the day and obviously tired...

Also some nights he is screaming once we put him down to bed. I dont understand what is happening to him and why the change all of the sudden? Im really worried about the head banging he has a huge bruise on his forehead.

Any suggestions? I have a 5 year old son, so maybe it’s time to move DS2 to a bed and put him to sleep with his brother? Help!!
