How does this work for night wakings when it's dark and they can't see you? I can get LO down in the first place pretty easily, but she woke up FIVE TIMES last night and I can't take it anymore!!!! (She's 5.5 months)

We did it at 7 months. It was hard (naps were our big issue), but it worked. Consistency is the most important thing. So stick with it, if you already started. And be sure you are ready to put in the time if you are.thinking about starting. The book is a good sleep reference guide for any age.

@mrsbookworm: this just seemed kinder than the full-on CIO methods and that was important to me. Good luck with your LO's sleep. It's the worst to not get good sleep!

@travellingbee: Thanks! I'll definitely check it out. LO is only 3 months but his sleep is terrible.

@mrsbookworm: 4.5 months... Sleep regression since 3.5 months has been rough. So far this seems to be working! Only 2 nights but so far so good! Found info here:

I've never heard of it before, but I'm glad it's working for you. How old is your LO?

Anyone use this method of sleep training? Did it work for you? We started a modified form of this last night and it went pretty well. Only 2 wake ups and he went from 1230 to 7 with no wake ups (or at least none that required me-- he cried out a couple times and then went right back to sleep on his own.) Basically, I just want to train him to put himself back to sleep so we are getting him used to going to bed drowsy but awake, without a pacifier (he can't get it back into his own mouth at night). He had been waking up every hour for the past month.
