My baby was in the NICU for 11 weeks, and when he came home he would only turn to the right since for the last few weeks that was the direction his isolette was facing for him to see out. We took him to a chiropractor who specialized in babies and it completely cleared it up where he will turn both ways. We also did physical therapy which didn't help.

Our pt recommended a towel under one corner of her mattress so it was harder to lay that way and that helped. I also waited until she was asleep and went in and tried to reposition her but I had a 3 try rule. After 3 tries I said screw it cause we all needed to sleep. I stressed and stressed about this but honestly everything is fine now so don't worry too much :)

@FaithFertility: If you're still concerned, could you go back to physical therapy? Do you still do exercises with her? Can you feel if the neck muscles feel stiff?

@twodoghouse: Thanks me too! I switch that position every other day and she will face the wall if need be to lay on that side...lol During the day I notice no preference when playing/rolling
So yes, I am hoping it will even out

Our physical therapist suggested actually switching which end you put the feet vs head. Make sure you put her so when you walk in the door, she should roll away from her preferred side to see you. Does that make sense?

DD went through therapy for her tort and she has full range of motion and no flat spot, but I can tell she still favors one side when she's tired or when she falls asleep in her car seat. I think since she's rolling there's only so much you can do, but I noticed once DD was rolling to her tummy a lot, then sitting, her neck muscles evened out a lot on their own. (We were in therapy too, but once she was sitting it improved rapidly!) I hope you notice the same!

@FaithFertility: my DD did the same thing and nothing I tried worked to correct it. It kind of stressed me out, but as soon as she started flipping over and sleeping on her tummy instead of her back, it evened out.

@FaithFertility: she adjusted to looking the other way within a week. For naps I'd sometimes put a headband with a big flower on it and position it so it would prevent her from turning right.

Can you put her head in the other direction? DD2 had a mild preference towards the right and that was the way she could see me from her sleeper. I now put her down with her head where her feet use to go and she now looks left to see me.

If she can roll it might be hard to get her to stay on one side

Have you tried a wedge?

Wasn't to sure where to post this....
DD had torticollis from birth and favored her right side, we went to PT and have since exited, but when she sleeps they say she just now has a habit of sleeping facing her right, no matter what I do...

At night Pedi just said let her do what she wants but for naps try to keep her to her left...as yo can see nothing is working? Any suggestions? She can roll so it is hard and I tried the Turtle Cap thingy..hahah she screamed all day long
TIA!!!
