I didn't know anything about wonder weeks when my son was small, but he was the world's worst sleeper in terms of STTN. He required an overnight bottle for a long time, maybe until a year? I blocked most of it out, lol.

Just because they can sleep through doesn't mean they will, it's just how some kids are.

We had a major change in sleeping habits at around seven months which I'm pretty sure was a result of a wonder week, teething and learning to crawl (etc etc)!

@Pepper: One of my girlfriends has an eighteen month old and he still occasionally has a night bottle, the little guy just wakes up hungry! I'm also thinking that there's an awful lot of neural development that goes on between six and twelve months old and some kids just need the extra calories at night!

@shopaholic: This makes sense... he is rolling a ton, sitting up, and really active. Maybe all of the activity means he just needs more to eat.

I wish I could fit more bottles in during the day, but there just isn't enough time since he won't drink more than 6 oz at once!

Yes. I think she was a pretty good sleeper until about that age - we went through a regression with the sitting up/rolling/standing. Went back to pretty good until teething around 8 months. Then she had a terrible one - waking a few times and needing to nurse back to sleep every time. But it was a long few months as she got one tooth after another.

Also, around that age, she was/is more distracted in the day nursing and became a LOT more active. So burning more calories. I thought she actually needed those extra MOTN calories, so I always nursed her. In fact, she's barely gained any weight in the past 3 months, even with multiple MOTN feedings.

Did your LO ever go through a sleep regression around 7 months? Or, what about after an illness/stomach bug (regardless of age)?

If your LO went through a sleep regression, did they ever suddenly require an extra bottle? This is what is driving me nuts. He went from barely eating 5 bottles, to needing 6. Our pediatrician told us that he should only have 5... but he wakes up STARVING and hysterical every morning around 1 AM. Nothing calms him down unless he eats. No idea what to do. I can't/won't let him go hungry, but I also can't keep feeding him that late at night. He already gets a bottle right before he goes to bed. I feel like he shouldn't need a middle of the night bottle at this age... right?

We're back to multiple wake ups a night. We never really sleep trained, but we would let him fuss for awhile before going in to replace his pacifier, and that really worked. He would wake up, fuss, and go back to sleep on his own. Now, he wakes up and just cries and cries... we replace his pacifier, and he repeats after 30 minutes.

Sound familiar to anyone? I just want to sleep for more than 3 hours at a time!
