@Smurfette: no judgment on the belly sleeping. If L would sleep on his belly I would definitely let him, but he so far seems to hate it

@Ms.Badger: CIO works for us. We just resleep trained her. She was teething and she got use to us going in when she cried, so we had to do the wake ups all over again. Now she is STTN again. She does sleep on her tummy. I am a bad Mom, I just lay her down that way, don't even mess with the back anymore.

@shopaholic: does she sleep on her belly or back/side now? looks like most here are saying it only gets better when they give in and belly sleep. L does not look like he wants to sleep or relax in any way on his belly

@Ms.Badger: I will admit, we haven't done any "sleep training". I think it was about a week of rough nights with wake ups. Maybe a little bit longer? She will still wake up every night at some point, but most times she can fall back asleep pretty quickly.

Lately though, I have been having to go in about once a night because she is scooting and rolling in the crib until her head is smushed against the corner or top edge.

@Ms.Badger: CIO sleep training also worked for us. My LO has been a tummy sleeper ever since she could roll (and that was on the early side), but had several night wakings until we sleep trained at about 9 months. It took a shockingly short amount of time to work (like 3 days).

LO went thru rolling onto her tummy at night while we were letting her CIO for night wakings, so we never went in to flip her over. She figured out that she can sleep comfortably on her tummy in one night. I don't know if CIO is something you'd do, but it solved it for us really quickly.

I need to bump this thread - how did it turn out for you @shopaholic: and @Phillybaby2013: ? My LO just started to roll and we've had the worst sleep he's ever had the last two nights. The rolled up blankets didn't work for him, he likes to move around in his crib.

This is us right now! It's not every night thankfully, but LO is a side sleeper and when she ends up on her stomach, she can't get back (despite being able to roll from back to belly for forever) and she will SCREAM. She has never fallen asleep on her stomach so I'm not sure what the future will hold :/ It happens every few nights, and she'll wake up 2-3 times as a result.

Hope it gets better for both of our LOs!

@shopaholic: No advice, just hugs(()) This is when H's sleep fell apart. She never recovered...I think she got too used to all of motn visits:). As you know, I had to ST at 7mos:(

I feel your pain, B did the exact same thing to me last night! He rolled over to his belly and I guess decided he didn't want to be there but couldn't get back. I was up on and off with him for over an hour until he settled down again. I really hope it's not weeks like @travellingbee said! Hopefully they both figure this thing out soon. Us Mommas need our rest!

@shopaholic: yeah but it was also in the midst of teething, 4 month regression and pacifier issues. He would get so upset on his tummy. Then all of a sudden he preferred it.

@travellingbee: A couple of WEEKS?! eek! I don't think I can handle that! I might need to blow up the aerobed and sleep in her room...

@birdofafeather: She never fussed when she rolled over? K rolls over and then wakes up seeming like she doesn't realize how that happened.

O.M.G. The past couple of nights have been exhausting! The first night K decided to roll over in her crib while sleeping, I was a nervous wreck, but SHE slept fine! Turned her head to her side and just peacefully slept away...

Night Two of rolling in her sleep was a completely different thing! I think I must have had to go get her 7-8 times! She even set off the Angel Care monitor alarm for real (not just the one or two beeps!) If I flipped her back onto her back, she'd be rolling back before I even moved my hands from her body! I'd try to wait it out, but eventually she'd be doing these "pikes" and thrashing about so much, she totally wakes herself up. Last night was a little better, just 2 wake-ups from rolling, but I'm quite exhausted from all the side turning, cries, and grunts. I know this is quite common, but if it happened to your LO, how long did this last? Did you LO end up being a tummy sleeper? Did you just put your LO to bed on their tummy?
My problem is that I think K is actually a SIDE sleeper, so when she gets on her tummy and can't roll back to her side, she gets all worked up.
If she's 5 months, do you think a wedge positioner-thing would help?
