We use sleep sacks and I think it is mostly because I feel like Lil one looks more comfortable with it on instead of just pajamas. Hoping that next winter we can start using a blanket...when is it okay to use a blanket anyways?

In addition to what others have said; safe extra layer, keeps him more contained (harder to get a leg caught), I also feel like its a part of our routine that helps.whether we're home or traveling, he knows the sleep sack means sleep.

We use a sleep sack for our 9.5 month old. I'm not comfortable using a regular blanket in his crib quite yet, so until we make the switch to one, we'll keep using our sleep sack. We find that it also helps him sleep a bit better, too.

I just re-instated the use of the sleep sack on my 11 month old in hopes that as Mrs. Wagon said, it would eliminate some of the instances of my LO sitting/standing in her crib, and MAYBE help her sleep a bit better. (I thought that perhaps she was sitting/standing while still half asleep, and crying when she realized she was in that position and couldn't figure out how she got there). No such luck, on my end. She's indifferent to the sleep sack - it doesn't bother her, but so far it doesn't seem to help in any concrete way, either.

For now I'll keep using it because I'm having trouble finding PJs with both zippers (she's too wiggly for snaps) and open or grippy feet, and the sleep sack works with just a onesie in our climate.

Once mine could roll over we stopped the A&A swaddle (arms out), but we never used the sleep sack. He does great in the fleece pj's year round. I do notice that he wakes occasionally in cotton pj's.

I either use warm pj's or a sleep sack over lighter ones for warmth. My guy stopped to like being swaddled at about 8 weeks, so this was the solution for us.

for us, it gets real chilly here, so LO needs more than even his fleece pj's :) sleep sacks do the job for us! we still use them in the summer too because it's easier than putting on another layer of clothing on him for sleep -- they stay pretty clean and are easy to use! :) and i think they are cute :)

I find them good because it stops him from crawling around and standing up in the middle if the night, and therefore waking himself up.

I didn't use them to swaddle wean though, since we neve swaddled, so I'm not much help there :)

we are a sleep sack family. just pjs aren't enough in the winter, and we keep the ac on in the summer since it's so hot and humid. we use fleece or wool in the winter, and cotton in the summer. even when it's warm, i find myself needing a blanket, esp in the middle of the night, so i figure the kids do too!

Ditto what Mrs. Wagon said! My oldest was wearing them until he turned 3. He never climbed out of his crib. A + A makes really big ones b/c he wore the 18-24 until he was 3.

M loves to rub the fabric of her sleep sack to soothe herself. I'm not comfortable giving her a blanket so a sleep sack gives her the comfort she needs, safely.

You want to use sleep sacks because you don't want babies to have a blanket in bed. They can get tangled and suffocate in them. A sleep sack gives the baby a blanket without getting tangled.

We use them as blankets at night..I guess maybe because it sort of contains them? I wouldn't think it'd be that much different than swaddling though. We went from sleep sack swaddles to using it without the swaddle to regular sleep sacks..but we were already sleep sack users.

It's just another layer! because if you have active sleepers like I do, they'll kick off any blanket within the first minute. Plus when they start walking, it prevents them from climbing out of the crib ;)

I went through and looked at threads about swaddle weaning. They all say to get sleep sacks. Why use these? Are regular pajamas not good enough?
