@Clementine: We use Aden + Anais for a light summer sleep sack and the Halo sleep sacks when it's cooler. Halo makes cotton (and organic cotton) and fleece. I hardly used the fleece one at all over the winter because I was paranoid about overheating. I'd rather layer with a lighter sleep sack and legwarmers or something.

@Mrsbells: thanks for the tip. I was hoping to get them from A&A but some of the negative reviews for the larger size kinda made me nervous. I hope daycare is getting better for your little one!

@Clementine: Aden and Anais have sleep sacks. I havent tried them but I have heard good things about them http://www.amazon.com/aden-anais-Cotton-Muslin-Sleeping/dp/B006ZSYHDC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1343921506&sr=8-3&keywords=aden+and+anais+sleep+sack

My LO doesnt like sleep sacks, but they are much better than loose blankets and much safer too. I wake up many times in the night just to check on her and she has usually managed to crawl away from her blanket and then I have to cover her again

we used them with charlie until he was a little over 2. they are one of my can't live without products! now that he sleeps with a regular blanket, he always kicks it off and sleeps all night without a blanket, so we have to dress him a little bit warmer.

but the number one best thing about sleep sacks is you don't have to worry about sids since they are wearing a blanket that can't cover their face.

olive loooves her sleep sack -- it's kind of like her lovey!

Once we stopped swaddling we tried sleep sacks but my son just wasn't into them. My sister used them on her kids until they were about 3 (they make ones with foot holes once they walk) and thought they were fantastic. We just use blankets in the crib these days.

I started using them when my lo started getting her limbs caught in the crib. She'll still get an elbow stuck every once in a while, but she used to get her feet stuck a lot and now she cant.

After you can't swaddle anymore (whenever they are able to flip over) you have to transition to blankets, and Wagon Jr. is such an active sleeper that I'd be in there 30 times a night re-covering him with the blanket. Plus he doesn't go to sleep right away so he'd definitely fall asleep uncovered.

Also, when they start climbing, it prevents them from being able to get their leg up far enough to climb out of the crib.

Wagon Jr. is in XL sleepsacks and we'll transition to a regular blanket once we transition to a toddler bed, and I'm totally dreading that day!!!

I just started wearing the swaddle version of the sleep sack, on little one and it has been a great transition from the full swaddle. She keeps one arm out so that she can suck on her hand, but she's still partially swaddled and warm. Plus with this one, we can eventually let both arms out but swaddled her around body. I'm a fan!

When LO started breaking out of her swaddle, we put her in sleep sacks and love them! They keep her warm and I don't have to worry about suffocation (by using a blanket?), her legs don't get trapped in between the slats of her crib, and it's harder for her to crawl around or stand up (she still can, it's just harder). I'm a fan!

I'm not exactly sure... but so far my son needs to be swaddled so I haven't had to use them yet.

I guess because it gives them an extra layer of clothing so that they don't have blankets in their bed?

Also I've heard it helps to transition from swaddling.

What makes sleep sacks so awesome? My boys aren't here yet, but I keep seeing them pop up on a resale page that I'm on and I'm wondering if I should get in on the action!
