@bebe: We have the same one and I love it. Plus, it's inexpensive, which is always a good thing when you're shelling out tons of money on baby gear.

We also have the travel sleep sheep for taking along in the stroller or car seat and I do love it. LO cuddles it and it helps relax her. But I agree with others that relying on the standard sleep sheep for nighttime and naps at home is probably not great because of the 45 minute deal. We live in a small apartment, so we really need the white noise to go on continuously if we want to get things done around the house without waking her.

Nay. LO was never interested in the Sleep Sheep, it just didn't work for us. We purchased the Homedics Lullaby, which turned out to be a lifesaver! It's a white noise machine and projector, LO loves it, she's 10 weeks old. It plays 3 lullabys and 3 nature sounds (heartbeat, rainforest and ocean), and the projector has 3 different disks. You can play both the sound and projector together or separately. The machine plugs in and you can let it play continuously or set the timer. At bedtime, we turn off the lights, turn on the machine and lay LO in her bassinet, she loves staring at the images and then goes to sleep on her own. In the past I would have to stand and rock her to sleep, it was so tiring! I highly recommend this! http://www.amazon.com/HoMedics-SS-3000-Soundspa-Lullaby-White/dp/B000QTSW64/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1347454228&sr=1-1&keywords=homedics

@winniebee: waves for daytime naps and the heartbeat for nighttime sleep. we have done so from the beginning and it seemed to help my son not resist naps so much since he knew it was a "short sleep" when he heard the waves.

Get a normal adult white noise machine. The sheep turns off at 45min and without fail my son wakes up.

I built a big library at 4m and read to my baby when he wouldn't nap. Time is really the only thing that got the naps back so embracing the time and doing other relax time activities was my strategy. Now he's too squirmy for reading and sometimes I miss the 4 month regression!

I rescind my earlier response. It has been chilly out so no fan. Back to using sleep sheep ocean noises at night - start it during bedtime routine and hit it again on way out of room and after night feeding. Not sure if it's doing anything but we are using it.

Haha love the comments about the whale noises! My dd actually only calms to the whale it's the only noise on the sleep sheep that we use. DD falls asleep to it in the car, and it will occasionally follow us into the house for carseat naps. But it is creepy, my Dogs go crazy over the whale noises! One of them Growls at it haha we use a white noise machine and a humidifier for bedtime.

Our daughter has slept with the sleep sheep every night since she was born. (We use the ocean noise.) We put it on for while she's falling asleep, and then we turn it back on in the night when she wakes up and cries for her binkie. It works great for us, and I actually like that it turns off and doesn't run all night.

Yay for us. I agree with some of the PPs, I like that it turns off after 45 minutes because I don't want my son to rely on it exclusively. We use it more of as a cue to go to sleep (one sound for night and a different one for naps) and enough of a sound barrier for while we are still awake and potentially making noise but it isn't a crutch for him to need it.

I'd say YAY -- we've been using ours every single day since LO was born and now whenever she hears the familiar ocean sound, she'll automatically start to look drowsy -- but it's mostly a YAY for a white noise machine, not the sleep sheep specifically. I personally think anything would work :)

Nay!! I hate that it only goes for 45 minutes. I ended up downloading a rainfall track onto my ipod and used my sound dock instead. It fills the entire room (some may think it's too loud) and blocks out any noise.

I mentioned it on our May babies thread, but I opted out of the sleep sheep because of the timer. I am really happy with the one we got on well.ca for under $30. It is goes plenty loud to drown out the sound of construction, kids playing, or our dog barking, and you can either plug it in or use batteries. It is small enough to take along for overnight trips as well.
