Charlie became a better sleeper overall, even when traveling, after sleep training. He knew once he had his bottle and was in his pack n play + white noise was turned on, that we weren't coming back for him. In fact we've never had any problems after a weekend of travel post sleep training.

We have had to retrain a couple of times, but they were never related to travel. More developmental. And each time it only took one night... it was so easy I don't even remember them.

There is occasionally a little bit of a setback but having as much of your usual routine available to you is very helpful when traveling to keep them in routine. We bring the same kind fitted crib sheet for my son's pack n play so the feeling is the same, same PJs, same sleep sheep, same books, same bed time, etc. I don't think it is as bad as the first time around but I think it can also depend on how much you can keep the routine the same.

I went to CA with my LO after she was "sleep trained" and she did fine. Even with the 3 hour time difference! We just ended up doing everything on Eastern Standard Time until she got adjusted. Meaning we went to bed at around 4:30pm. :P It was fine with me though cause I was tired!

Talk to me about traveling after you've sleep trained. Is it doable? Did you have to sleep train all over again after getting home, even if you were only gone for a weekend? Was it as bad as it was the first time around?

We're on the go a lot, so I've resisted sleep training until now, but I think we may be reaching that point.
