@mrsmate: the no cry sleep solution didn't work for us either....if I had time to fill out chart after chart of notes then maybe---but I definitely did not.

I found healthy Sleep habits healthy child to be most useful for us. I read several of the ones mentioned above.

While not a sleep training book per se, I liked Bringing Up Bebe. It talks about encouraging your baby to learn to self-soothe. Your LO is not too young to start doing that.

If you're anti-CIO, you may like the no cry sleep solution. It didn't work for me. It involves lots of note taking. Wasn't going to happen in my desperately sleep-deprived state.

I second healthy sleep habits, happy child. That's the book that worked for us. We did try ferberizing (modified CIO) but our LO just learned to wait out the intervals. Good luck and hang in thre.

Lots of my friends swear by The Baby Whisperer, though it's more of a comprehensive routine rather than just sleep. We didn't really follow it, but it works for them.

@TurtleDoves: bed timing tells you the best ages to sleep train, wonder weeks tells you when your baby is going through a developmental milestone so you can expect sleep interruption, healthy habits talks about why sleep is so important (esp early bedtimes).

healthy sleep habits teaches you a lot about the fundamentals of baby sleep that are good to know. the 90 minute baby sleep program also worked great for us up to 5 months.

i read all the books and they're all kinda similar and all blend together -- they all involve crying. any method can be modified though. if i remember correctly, i think the sleepeasy solution and the sleep lady might provide more of a roadmap on how to sleep train.

@Mrs. Bee: any of those you prefer? I don't love HBOB...but then again, I read it web I was pregnant so at that point I was naive and it was irrelevant.

I'm reading The Sleep Lady's Good Night, Sleep Tight. According to the Amazon reviews it's like a gentler version of CIO. My LO's too young for it now (12 weeks) but I'm hoping it works when the time comes!

I am sleep deprived and not loving it! So, any books for work for you & LO?
It is still too early for LO (he's 8.5w) but I'd like to start reading up on sleep training and try to educate myself so that I implement a method as soon as it is appropriate...like AS SOON AS I CAN;)

*note: I am going to try & avoid CIO as much as/as long as I can. But, if there is a book that encourages CIO, then I will still read it as long as the method is able to be modified.
