@BabyTsMom: good to know!! He is 4.5 months (3.5 adjusted). He sleeps well in the crib for his morning nap, up to 3 hours sometimes! But afternoon naps and bedtime are a whooole different story, sigh :bummed:

@Meridian: how old is your LO? You can definitely sleep train for nights only, especially if your LO is less than 4-5 months old. Because supposedly naps don't lenghten/consolidate till about 6 months (I think?) anyway, so nap training can come later if need be.
Personally, we sleep trained for going to bed at 3.5 months, and I was holding LO for every single nap until then. I kept holding him for about a week or two after night training, but one day decided to see what would happen if I put him in his crib, and he actually napped there! I didn't really nap train but I think since he had learned to fall asleep at night, it somehow helped with the daytime? Who knows???

We kept things the same for naps for a long time after night sleep training. Sleep training helped but did not solve all our nighttime problems. We've done it several times now, but It definitely stuck best when we got my LOs on an appropriate daytime schedule, which meant nap training. But I did night sleep training (to fall asleep) at around 5.5 months and we just weren't ready for nap training at the same time. We finally nap trained at 8 months. I would conquer night sleep training first and go from there!

We only sleep trained for night and it has been fine. He falls asleep on his own at night (though still doesn't STTN  ) we didn't do naps because he is in daycare and we almost never have more than 2 or 3 days in row with him, so we just rock him to sleep.

We're on day 2 of sleep training (seriously dreading tonight :crying: ). But for naps, I'm keeping things more or less the same, and holding him for his afternoon naps because they are crappy otherwise, and I want him to get rest. I don't want him crying during the day AND night. He also gets his paci for naps but not for bedtime.

Anyone else do this, or am I sabotaging my efforts?! I've read that babies can differentiate/separate naps and nighttime sleep since they are controlled by different parts of the brain (Weissbluth, I think?), so that's what I'm hoping!
