I have heard that you don't have to do both at the same time. We did because I just wanted to get it over with. Nap training took muuuch longer then night for us. But now DS goes down like charm, no fuss no muss.

It didn't work for us, we had to do it all at the same time.

We sleep trained but didn't nap train. And it worked fine for sleeping. But I do sort of wish we did both, because his naps still suck and it feels like we have to start all over for the days now.

yes most definitely they can separate day time and night time sleep and you can do one and not the other. with charlie we did both and it was hard.

with olive we nap trained first then night trained later. it was easier to do one at a time.

Sooo....we started the Ferber training last night and I guess it went okay. Lots of tears (from both of us!), but we were consistent and stuck with it all night and will continue. But, then this morning, I rocked her to sleep as normal for her first nap (and she fell asleep in about 1 minute....I felt bad, because she must be dead tired). I thought about nap training her at the same time, but then I read that you should try to get them to nap any way possible so that they are well rested. I read that babies can differentiate between daytime and night time sleep, but for those who did sleep train, did you find that to be true? I don't want to confuse her and make the sleep training worse than it already is!
