My DD has consistently STTN from 9 months, but we went through a couple weeks right around 11.5/12 months where she was waking up in the MOTN and would NOT go back down. Chalked it up to developmental stuff and teeth. I think it's normal at that age. Hang in there :)

We have had a lot of stops & starts. No real advice but I think it's typical. Good luck!

We didn't have this happen, but I did read that babies can have a short regression after sleep training initially goes well. Just keep at it and be as consisten pt as possible. Unless you think she is sick, etc.

@Revel: yes! We sleep trained around 6 months, and now at 9 months it's out the window. She sits up straight in her crib and just cries. Seriously hoping it's walking/cruising related for both of us, then things can go back to normal.

I agree there's a bunch of milstones happening with these babe's right now. I thought I was pretty lucky for a while there. My LO co-slept with me up until six months and it was pretty sooth. She only got up twice 4:30am and 8:30am. woke up for the day at 9:30am. All that went out the window after 6 months when those bottom teeth broke through, Since then it's been one thing after the other.
It's sad to say I'm actually looking forward to my possible surgery in a few months, just to get some sleep!!!

Just wanna say that I know how much it suckssss. I'm just about 2 weeks in sleep training my 6.5 month old. We had the typical start, then she improved a LOT (like, a few nights if less than a minute if crying), then the last two nights have sucked. 55 minutes the one night, then 40 last night with an additional 40 minute crying wakeup I eventually just got her in bed with me for (it was BAD).

She just started to rock on all 4s so I'm wondering if it's a developmental/crawling regression? I'm hoping tonight goes better for you!!!

I'm guessing milestone too. We trained and whilst LO is generally really good at getting herself off to sleep now, we have regressions every month or so where we have to let her CIO for 5-10mins each nap/sleep for a few days. I've gotten used to it now so just stay strong and it passes quick.

@Revel: I know! We had a couple bad nights (teething and diarrhea) and yesterday I thought how the hell did I do this every day (even more wakes ups) for a month during the 4 month sleep regression!

@edelweiss: thanks for sharing. It may be milestone related. In addition to the cruising she is really trying to develop words too. Trying to remind myself that all things with babies change in time!

around 12 months, LO was learning some new skills and we had a 2-week period where he would wake up in the middle of the night screaming and crying. he wouldn't settle down and would be up for about 1.5 hours. i think his little brain was on overdrive (plus, he doesn't nap well at daycare) and it disturbed his sleep. it's hard to know what to do because you don't want them to undo all the good habits they recently learned. we would go in, hold him, try putting him down, let him cry a bit, rinse and repeat until he was tired enough to fall back asleep.

@MamaPhoenix: @Cherrybee: thanks ladies. Sorry you are going through this as well. She is pulling to stand and cruising relatively recently. She's not doing that in the crib when she wakes (yet...) but maybe that could be a culprit. I've heard learning to walk does a real number on sleep

Is there anything else going on with her? Like is she in the midst of learning something new - crawling, pulling up, taking steps etc?

Since E learned to crawl on Saturday, is has been harder to get her to sleep because she just wants to crawl about the crib. Sunday (afternoon nap) it was the worst I've ever seen - she was rolling about frantically and getting up on her knees (while crying) and her eyes were closing, she was so tired. But she battled on. We got her up again but she was so tired she just screamed. Eventually, she screamed herself to sleep (on her face). Nightmare!

I don't have any advice for you as I've just got a 7 month old that i'm currently attempting to sleep train. I just have much sympathy and wanted to wish you good luck. We we're doing good for a bit. Then she learned to sit up in the crib and army crawl during the day. Since then sleep has gone to shit. Is there any milestone your LO might be developing right now at her age?

Did anyone have their training just stop working after three weeks? LO is almost a year and we finally sleep trained around 11 months. She was doing great for there weeks but all of a sudden the last few nights is waking constantly and crying much longer than she had before. She sits up and won't lay down, even though she is very good at laying down during the day. She will finally fall asleep kind of slumped over, but I assume that isn't comfortable and she wakes again frequently. Laying her down doesn't seem to work anymore. We've given meds for teething although she doesn't seem like she's teething.

Any help or similar experience? These last night's have been worse than the initial training and we are just stumped!
