Sleep training was freaking epic. Tough for the week overall but it has stuck remarkably well. Probably 95% successful. We have a bad night once in awhile but mostly she goes down and stays down: the end.

We sleep trained around 6.5 months and it took a maybe 3 weeks. But we never had more than 45 minutes of crying, some nights no crying. At the same time he started dropping night feeds and eventually would sleep 11-12 hours.

Now we rock him and read to him and some nights he falls asleep on us, some nights he doesn't but either way he's calm when we put him in the crib and sleeps a solid 12+ hours and wakes up happy. I love that he snuggles with me and falls asleep and *still* sleeps through the night. I also love that on the rare occasions he does wake up, I know something's probably wrong like teething or a fever.

I'd say sleep training at night went better than expected. The first night's bed time sucked. Took her 2 hours to fall asleep and over an hour of that was pretty hard crying. But then she slept almost all night. With the except of one really bad night (night 4-- I think we were dealing with a bit of regression + she was getting sick unfortunately), ever since that first night she has slept fine. Almost every night she goes to sleep with 5 min crying or less, and she wakes up just a few times and cries 5 min or less. And this from a kid that was requiring me to either cosleep or hold her all. night. long.

Nap training was a bit worse for us (we're night quite 2 weeks in and it is just starting to get pretty good), but she seems to be getting that too. We did night training at 6 mo and nap at 6.5

It wasn't too terrible for us! We did it right around 5 months, and it only took about a week for him to get it all figured out. He's a champion sleeper now!

Did anyone have sleep training go better than expected? We are sleep training in a week when my husband is on vacation. He is dreading it but I'm starting to feel good about it since I am the one home rocking and holding her for naps. She'll be 6 1/2 months at that point and seems to adapt pretty quickly to change. So tell me, was anyone pleasantly surprised with their LO or was it just tortire for all involved?
