We vacationed when LO was 6.5 months old and it took a couple of nights before she got back to her normal habits at night.

How many weeks is LO? There is a wonder week around week 26, which may explain your difficulty? http://www.thewonderweeks.com/index.php/about-the-wonder-weeks/your-babys-10-leaps/mental-leap-5

Have you thought about getting DH to put him back to sleep? It may be the start of separation anxiety. I'm not there yet, so i can't say for sure!

We had difficulty with LO after a 5 week vacation and had to use graduated extinction after the second night. After two painful nights, we were able to get her to sleep without crying.

@Clementine: I tried that method and found that, like you, she would just wail harder than if we didn't go in there at all.

The other night, I decided to heat up her bottle first (she still refuses to nurse) instead of going in and getting her. In the 3.5 minutes it took for me to heat it up, I could tell a difference in her cry. It went from "Hey, come in here NOW" to a "I'm just moaning to hear myself". So I waited a few more minutes and she eventually put herself to sleep. Granted, she did wake herself up after 10 minutes and I fed her... we're still trying to figure it out.

(If you get any tips, please pass them along) ;-)

Since we come back from our vacation over a week ago, LO hasn't been sleeping well at night. He wakes up at least 2-3 x a night when he used to wake up once for a feeding. And when I do feed him and try to sooth him, the minute I put him back in the crib, he's wailing. Not sure what to do. We usually use the Extinction method, but it seems like he actually knows what's coming so he starts wailing louder and longer as if he's testing me. Any advice or words of encouragement? I'm tired and I thought were done with this sleep training biz.
