@hilsy85: I think that sounds like a good plan! Yea she might just be waking for comfort/habit since she prefers to nurse instead of bottle at that time. Maybe once she gets used to bottle at that time you can slowly start decreasing. And hopefully L just sleeps through all of it or goes back down quickly!

@hilsy85: S used to be such an amazing sleeper before B arrived. He is up at least once/night now. It's just the act of having to get up to take him back to bed...while S goes down easily, I don't! Now I'm up!

Lots of luck with the bottle tonight...

@NovBaby1112: I should definitely use a bottle...maybe I will start doing that tonight, with like 3oz in it. That's another thing that makes me think it's just for comfort--we've tried a bottle at that feeding before and she barely drinks anything but is then difficult to put back down unless I basically nurse her to sleep...weird, because she goes down awake at the beginning of the night. I think because she doesn't really like the bottle she fights it a bit and wakes herself up, instead of getting drowsy while she's drinking.

@2PeasinaPod: he doesn't nap, but is still up in the MOTN for one reason or another pretty often. And he can have a hard time going back to sleep...

Maybe I will try the bottle for the 10:30 first and get that as a regular thing and see how it goes.

@hilsy85: It's not too awful, but then both DH and I are up because someone has to help S back down. We let him know we'll lay with him for a few minutes and pray it's a short CIO for B. It does help that S has dropped his nap, so he's exhausted...so he falls back to sleep pretty quickly. Is L still napping for you?

We were trying to cut the 2am feeding for B...he was eating a full 5oz bottle then, so we started to reduce one ounce at a time. Once he got down to 2 ounces and was falling asleep, that's when we started CIO for that time. It took about 3 days, but he started sleeping through that feeding, and didn't get up until 5 like C. We would put him back down, and get him up for day care at 6:30/7ish. So sounds like we're on the same schedule!

@hilsy85: yea I would try to cut the 10:30 one! Maybe you can use a bottle at that feeding so you know exactly how much she is drinking and then slowly wean it down? Although I am sure it is much easier to nurse in the MOTN!!

@NovBaby1112: that's awesome!! C is currently up at 10:30ish, 2ish, 5ish, and then 6:30 for the day...maybe it's not really that bad? I just feel like she shouldn't need the 10:30...

@hilsy85: yea that sounds like habit esp if she isn't eating a lot. So far I think it's going well- he wakes up between 11-1 for his first bottle and he used to drink 5oz but now it's 3oz. Then he wakes from 4-5am for another bottle which I don't mind keeping!

@2PeasinaPod: I wish I knew exactly how much she was getting...I think I may try an even bigger bottle at bedtime and then reducing at least the first feeding by a few minutes. We also have to leave the door to the room open because L freaks if it is closed and he wakes up! How was it when B woke him up from crying?

@hilsy85: I unfortunately don't have much advice, but wanted to chime in to say that I do think it's just habit that she wakes up at this point. B was doing the same thing for a while and we were getting up to feed him. He wouldn't even eat 2 ounces before he was asleep again. We had to bite the bullet and let him go.

S's room is right across from B's room, and even with a window fan, and white noise, he still heard B crying. We could only close B's door b/c S would freak if he woke up and his door was closed. I'm hoping L is a much deeper sleeper than S is!!

@NovBaby1112: The thing with C is that I don't actually think she really eats that much at night--she literally will usually fall back asleep on the boob in a few minutes, and only takes one side...and she will have a big bottle (for her--like 5oz) before bed, and still wake up 3 hours later. So I feel like it's habit.

Have you started reducing already? how is it going? It definitely makes sense to do it that way!!

@hilsy85: haha yea we all use white noise! Im slowly trying to gradually wean DS down to 1 night feed by reducing the ounces in his bottle and hoping once I get to like 1-2oz he won't wake anymore? We'll see how it works....I read there is less crying involved doing this method bc if you all of a sudden cut baby off and they are used to eating a lot, it will be harder for them. Who knows though!!

Hopefully others can help re sleep training in same room!

@NovBaby1112: I don't think we could move the crib around that much--it's big and our apt is tiny, so we can't just have it sitting in the living room...too big for our bathrooms too. We could move the pack n play, but then I worry about transitioning from the pack n play to the crib.

L is a deep sleeper, but I don't think he's that deep of a sleeper :silly: We've never even been able to transition him from the carseat to the crib without him waking up.

Hmm that's tricky- could you maybe move the crib to another area of your apt, living room, bathroom, your bedroom??, and sleep train there until yourLO is sleep trained, maybe a week??

Or could you maybe move L once he is asleep to the couch or another spot so he isn't disturbed? Not sure though...M is a really deep sleeper too and I don't think she would notice me moving her, but it seems like a lot of work!

How do you do this?? My toddler is a pretty deep sleeper, but I feel like with sleep training there is no way the baby won't wake him up...and that could either turn into a 5 min wake up for him or an hour long thing where he wants someone to sit with him, which would kind of undo the whole sleep training thing...do I just send him away for a weekend and do it then? Any tips?
