@cake2017: it’s been about 3-4 dayS of this wake up two hours after going to bed. Last night it took about 20 min and he was back asleep. We went and checked him a couple times and laid him down but I guess he must have figured it out.

He practices standing lots in the day and we are trying to help him by showing him how to get down. Hopefully he’ll learn soon.

@ALV91711: I can’t remember if I did a post about this or not but my Lo had this issue. I remember just letting him figure it out. During the day I would practice with him. He woke up in the middle of the night and cried. I didn’t go in and help. i’d watch on the monitor and he figured it out. i think it was like 2 days? Not too sure but it passes quickly.... I think.

@crazydoglady: all I found were fleece ones shopping today. Might just have to do amazon.

@Eebolleh: He pulls to stand all day. Today he even did it on the sliding door! I tried a few times to show him sitting back down. Hopefully he catches on.

@agold: thx. Good to hear it is a phase, hoping it passes quickly.

@JJ2626: He has been getting lots of practice time out of the crib, so hopefully it passes quickly.

Tonight like clockwork he woke up at 8. Luckily DH and I had briefly discussed it earlier so we had a loose plan. I went up and turned on his glow worm, felt his diaper & laid him back down. A few minutes later we could tell by his scream he was standing. After about 10 min DH went in and laid him down, pat his back but he was in monster mode!! About 10 minutes later he was laying down asleep. So I guess he can get down after all. Hopefully after another night or two he will realize not to wake up at 8!

My 16 mo sleeps in a sleep sack no matter what. If it’s really hot she does a onesie under a thin muslin sack. That said, she can stand up in it. But-I would just put him down 1-2 times per night and otherwise let him be to figure it out. He’ll learn how to get down soon and then you’ll be fine. Give him time to practice outside of the crib.

My 13 month old sleeps in a sleep sack, and still a fleece pj under! We have ac on though. If it’s particularly hot, I would do something lighter, but never skip the sleep sack. However, she can stand up in the sleep sack, so I’m not sure it will help. Sometimes my baby would seem to get stuck sitting up. I’d just leave her if she wasn’t overly crying. I’m sorry you are going through. It’s definitely a phase. Maybe set a time you will let him cry each night before going in. And extend the time each night. Hoping this passes quick for you!

It’s a phase. You have two options - go in, lay him down and leave quickly or let him figure out how to sit down on his own.

Try to get him to practice standing a lot outside of nap time, and help him learn how to sit back down. It sucks but it eventually ends

@ALV91711: I was thinking muslin for the summer, but it depends on how warm your climate/house is. Make sure you get one that is properly fitted so he doesnt have a lot of "slack" to use to stand.

@DesertDreams88: that’s good to know. I’m definitely going to get a bigger sleep sack when I’m out today and give it a try. I’m going to wait until after we travel since he still wakes 1-2 times but this new waking up two hours after he goes down I need to deal with now. When we traveled 3 months ago he slept terrible most nights.

FWIW, temp wise, our babies both slept in cotton footed sleepers and sleep sacks in the summer at 78 degrees for months up through age 2.

Travel has always ruined my sleep training, sorry, no.help there.

@muffinsmuffins: yes, hopefully we can help him learn to get down. I’m sure big brother will help! His other new skill this week is stair climbing. He sure keeps us busy!

@ALV91711: aww poor buddy! Maybe when he’s outside the crib and pulls up you could put some tempting toys on the floor below him and then he could practice leaning or crouching down to get them. Other than that, I would definitely do a sleep sack like pp suggested...though that doesn’t stop my DS from practically running around the crib 🤷🏻‍♀️

@muffinsmuffins: yes, he pulls up on everything! Then ends up screaming because he is stuck. I definitely don’t mind if he falls in the crib, it is just the screaming that is hard. I really hope this is a short phase.

Is he pulling up outside the crib yet? I feel like this is, hopefully, one of those phases that they have a few/week of bad nights and they figure it out. Like when they start rolling over and can’t get back the other way. This might sound bad but if you left him to cry a little bit, he might fall/sit down by accident if he’s worked up and that might break the cycle. Plus in the crib he’s only going to be on something soft so you know he’s ok if that happens and it shows him it’s not scary. I know my DS loves practicing new things in the crib at bedtime. You’ll also want to avoid laying him down repetitively as that could become a fun game after a bit :silly:

@crazydoglady: didn’t think of that. I stopped using them when he outgrew the last size we had and the weather got warmer. Right now he sleeps in a cotton sleeper, would you put the sleep sack over that or do something lighter?

DS will be 10 months next week. We have previously done sleep training for him to go to sleep in his own and early wake ups with success.

We now have a new problem with him being able to pull up the last couple weeks but he doesn’t know how to get down.

The last two nights he has woken up about 2 hours after going to bed and stands and screams. I tried to just lay him down and leave but he is up again by the time I’m at the door. We’ve ended up just rocking him which I’m not that ok with. Once or twice yes, but I don’t want this to turn into a long term thing.

We are going away in two weeks and I was going to night wean/sleep train when we got back. Do I just hope he can get down by then??

You bees always have great knowledge & ideas.
