I never got a mattress for our PnP and Xander sleeps in it just fine. He DOES seem to like it better with a padded sheet, but it's not necessary.

We only use our pnp for travel. From 0-8 months, just the pnp mattress was fine for LO. Then we took a 12 day trip when LO was 8 months, and she slept pretty poorly on just the pnp mattress. We got an additional mattress for a 2 week trip when she was 14 months, and she slept much better. Now we always use the additional mattress, and she does seem to sleep better with it.

I wouldn't for one day, but it made a significant difference for my LO and I was glad I bought it for a longer trip.

We bought one for a week vacation when he was 11 months old, but that was the first time he used one.

He did sleep better and longer on it, and he never really slept well in just the PnP, BUT he doesn't really sleep well anywhere but his crib. He slept as well on just the pad as he did anywhere else that wasn't his crib. But for a whole week of naps and nights in an unfamiliar place with lots of people while teething I wanted him to be as comfortable as possible.

For just one day? I wouldn't (didn't) bother.

I wasn't planning on getting an additional mattress for the PNP, I just plan on using the (thin) one that comes with it!

Just found out we need to bring our PnP to the babysitter tomorrow for naps and we don't have a mattress for it. I can buy one tomorrow for it but he will have to do without for tomorrow .... I'm scared he will be uncomfortable. He's 7 months old. Think he will even notice ?

He usually sleeps in a crib but the sitter just converted it to a big boy bed for her son !
