@HTownMom: The thing with sleep training is, you have to be consistent. If you let her cry one time, then another go in and rock, another lay in there, it's confusing and the crying will be for naught. I agree with @Kemma: that it's a lot of change all at once. I would aim to first get her used to her room by getting her to sleep there first and then see how she does before worrying about STTN. We sleep trained using Ferber checks and CIO at 12.5 months to night wean but she had been in her room for 7.5 months. For us, it was the right time. You know your little one best so be consistent but be kind to yourself and her if the sleep doesn't change immediately!

@HTownMom: is your lo in her own room now? I'm just thinking that going from bed sharing to sleeping in a completely new space is a big transition so you might have some luck with either doing a gradual withdrawal or sleeping on a mattress on the floor till she gets the hang of her new room :-)

She is a stubborn baby and is now sleeping while sitting up!! She has been this way for 30 min! When we go to put her down and to lay down, she crys again and then keeps sitting up.

no advice, as I sleep trained my guy at 3.5 months, but just wanted to say good luck!!
if you have a rough time, I thought The Sleepeasy Solution book had some good ideas for training older babies/toddlers....

So LO has coslept in our bed with us basically since she was born. We traveled a ton over her first 16months (think 40 flights in that time), so it really worked out. She had never STTN!!!

Now I have weaned her to only BF 3 times a day, within the past 2 weeks, and so thought it was time to sleep train in her crib, finally! The past week we have played with her in her crib, put her favorite stuffed puppies in there and she has her pacifier. Plus she didn't have a nap today, so we thought she would be super tired and pass out! Haha, we were wrong.

Now we are doing a combination of CIO and staying in the room, holding her, then laying her down after a while of rocking and cuddling.

I'm hoping that this is the worst night and after night 3, like all the success stories here, she will sleep! I'm crossing my fingers for sleep in the crib and STTN! Does that seem like too much at the same time?

Any advice or suggestions?
