@NaturallyCathy: omg I totally feel your pain friend! I use the Boppy trick too at least once a day/night. In fact, she was up for almost 2 hours from 2-4am and every time I tried to put her down in the bassinet after nursing, rocking, etc. she would wake up and start again... Finally I'm in bed with her on the boppy. Swaddle rarely works for us too. Or rather it would work of she didn't have a fit every time with the swaddlers.

@Smurfette: We need a baby whisperer to come and tell us what to do...

@MamaMoose: I tried swaddling but I'm afraid I'm not very good at it. I did purchase a Swaddle Me from a fellow HBer and it seemed to work okay but I'm not sure how to position her arms for comforts sake. She usually sleeps in a footed suit or a gown, clothing wise. As far as -where- she sleeps, she alternates. We tried her sleeping in her car seat because for a while, it seemed like she wanted to be craddled like that. Then in the bassinet when I wasn't holding her. We just started putting her in our PnP during the day, so she's rarely ever in her bassinet since we were going to use it for night time. I'm using a boppy most of the time to sort of prop her up so she feels like she's being held still.

What we did with H was bassinet for a month, then to the cradle, then at about six months we moved him into his crib where he's been ever since. He -can- sleep in a PnP but it's not his favorite by any stretch. He's spoiled I guess.

Are you swaddling? What is she sleeping in? When M was brand new a tight swaddle + the RnP was the best combo to get her to sleep long streches. You are welcome to borrow our RnP if you want... I just moved M to the pack n play at night to get her used to sleeping flat on her back.

If you figure out how to get her to sleep more at night, let me know! My LO will go maybe 2 hours at the most. I am so tired too. Especially now that DH is back at work, so doing it all solo.

I'm beginning to think that I'm never going to sleep in my own bed again!

We recently moved into a new house and because the second story doesn't have heating or cooling yet (old house, circa 1946), everyone's bunked downstairs. We have the guest room, then DS's room, then our bedroom. The rest of the downstairs is living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom.

DD is 3 weeks old. DS is 14 months old. He goes to bed, without fail usually, at 7 pm and doesn't wake until 7 - 7:30 am the next morning. Needless to say, I love that he has this schedule since I'm busy dealing with his baby sister at night. But because he is such a great little sleeper, I don't do what I did when he was her age - let her cry. I keep her as pacified as I can, whether it be by boob or by bottle but I don't let her cry.

So what's the problem? Mommy's not getting any sleep! If she isn't trying to breast feed, she's crying for some other comfort. If I put her down, she's fine for a few minutes then squawking to be picked back up and cuddled. The swing we bought has only worked twice and since then, she screams bloody murder every time I put her in it. I'm either dozing on the couch with her on my chest all night, not really sleeping because she's always wanting something, or up and down using the guest bed.

I feel like if I let her cry like I do during the day, though, she'd settle down and sleep more/longer. But I'm afraid that it'll wake up DS. There doesn't seem to be a good way for everyone to sleep without some disrupt.

Anyone have any suggestions to get her to sleep a little more through the night? And yes, she sleeps great through the day... But I chalk that up to being a newborn still and not really getting the whole day/night thing. Especially since she was most active during pregnancy at night and happened to be born at night. She's my little night owl.
