I was only allowed to go to a sleepover if it was a party and there were other girls. I guess my parents (even though they knew the other parents) were not cool with it, and I kind of understand why.

I can't imagine my son being interested, but if he is, I would allow it and then be on standby, lol, assuming that I know the parents.

If I know the parents, totally! My best friends daughter is super close in age to my daughters so basically once they get old enough to where it's less like babysitting and more fun we will totally have sleepovers! Same for BIL and SIL. I can't wait until my niece and my girls can have sleepovers!

We'll see how this plays out, but I guess I don't really see the point of sleepovers. I went to some as an older child and we had some for the dance team in high school, which I think were supposed to be "team-building," but they weren't more fun than regular parties and always resulted in everyone being exhausted. I'd rather just throw parties for LO and have everyone go home the same evening. Maybe I'm a Grinch, but I'll own it--I get up early and I don't want to have to dance around a bunch of kids in sleeping bags on my living room floor in order to get to my kitchen to make coffee! ;)

On a case by case basis if she wants to. The idea of them creeps me out but I never liked sleeping over at other peoples houses really.

I had honestly never heard of people not allowing their kids to have sleepovers until hellobee! They were such a huge part of my life as a kid! Maybe I was one of the lucky ones? But nothing remotely bad ever happened. My parents always knew the other family extremely well, though.

My son can for sure have sleepovers at his cousins house and my parents house, which is right now all he asks for, ha! We'll deal with other requests as they come up, I suppose. But I do think I'd like to know the other family very well.

Oh man. I slept at my best friends so often and vice versa. If we know the family I guess? I can't imagine my kids not having sleep overs..

Hmmmm... I don't think I can say until it actually happens but I plan not to allow DD to do a sleepover at someone else's home. Of course there might be school camps and stuff but just casual sleepovers, no. I worked in criminal law and have the heebie jeebies about girls getting molested during sleepovers by male relatives of the host. Older brothers, fathers, uncles, casual visitors. It's probably rare but I'd rather not risk it.

Will you let your LO participate in sleepovers? Only at your home? Others homes? Both? Neither? If you would allow them, at what age would you feel comfortable?

DH and I have differing opinions on this, so curious what most other people do!
