@blackbird: I'm hesitant to ditch it, because what if we need it in the winter? Or with the AC this summer, for that matter-- her room is smaller than the master and gets cooler much more quickly than ours.

We've been doing short sleeve onesie and A&A super thin sleep sack and it's working. But we only have one of those so I'm trying to decide if we should buy another or what.

We lived in the southwest until DD was 2, and even though it was very warm, we just dressed her in light pajamas (like the shorts and short sleeves) and a sleep sack. We used the Baby DeeDee Sleep Nest Lite, and then when she outgrew that we got a Grobag with a 1.0 tog, I think.

Can you ditch it? We forgot to pack ours one night, E sleep fine without it, and we've been sleep sack free since. And it makes things SOOOO much easier. Especially because she has this habit of pooping at night once in awhile now. And when it's really hot, we just do a diaper and t-shirt (or no t-shirt). She doesn't seem to care or miss the blanket aspect in the least.

When it's cool in the winter, we'll just bump the heat up. But by then she will be almost 2, so we'll see if she wants/needs a blanket by then. More than likely, we'll just do warmer fleece style pants+socks

We just switched to long sleeve onesie plus long pants, with a cotton halo sleepsack since it's finally getting warm here (I think it's around 75 in the house right now). It was really hot this aftn during her nap so I just did short sleeve onesie with sleepsack, no pants.

@Foodnerd81: I'll use sleep sacks as long as possible! She rolls all over the crib, so she wouldn't be good with a blanket yet. We still do long sleeves and long pant (light cotton ones) at night. If it's too warm for that, we have the A/C on and her room gets to coldest. We stopped using footed pjs a few weeks ago when it got too warm. I sometimes do short sleeves and pant-less for naps when the sun hits her room. Still with sleep sack though. She's never seemed too warm.

So far we have stopped using sleep sacks. I think we have a light A&A one that we might use from time to time. My only concern is that he gets so used to not wearing a sleep sack that when it gets cold again, he'll freak and not want to wear one.

We stopped using sleep sacks when the weather got warm last year - like 80s warm. Her room doesn't have great airflow. It never bothered her, did nothing in terms of her moving around in the crib (was already standing and walking in her sleep sack anyway).

@septca: Unless we know it's going to be really hot, we usually put socks on her. No real reason other than habit.

Last summer we used the super light A&A sleep sacks--they're just one layer of muslin--over short sleeved t shirts and shorts. But you could even just do them over a diaper if you think she needs the feel of a sleep sack. This summer, I'm not using sleep sacks very much--just putting him in t shirts and pants so far, unless the A/c makes the room really chilly.

We use the super light weight A+A muslin sleep sack - it's almost like nothing. DD really likes using the sack, so we have been just putting less on her in terms of PJs. Last night (our AC was on - set to 78), she wore a tank/shorts PJ set and the light sack.

We stopped the sleep sacks around 12 months for this reason. now she sleeps in 2 piece sleepers, long or short sleeved or pants or shorts. She does fine with whatever. She has a blanket in her crib but usually kicks it off.

I would just have LO wear the sleep sack and a onesie or nothing.

Naps we tend not to use a sleep sack (she doesn't use one at daycare), and for night time we just switched to her lighter weight sleep sack. She's 17 months and stands up in her crib all the time, so it doesn't really impede her movement too much! She wears a light sleeper underneath. I figure in the summer we'll have the AC going, so an extra layer will help her feel cozy without getting too warm.

What do/did you do about a sleepsack or PJs when the weather gets warmer?

It's getting warmer here (for now-- back to the 50s again this week :( ) We usually put C, 9.5 months, to sleep in footed PJs and a sleepsack, either light A&A one or a warm fleece one, depending on the temp. It's been so warm the last couple of days we put her in a short sleeve onesie and the A&A sleepsack, which seems to work OK. We do have A/C but try to only use it when we really need it.

So, wondering if we need to buy another lightweight sleep sack, or if we should plan to transition away from it anyway? When did you stop using it?

FWIW she scoots around the crib a lot, but hasn't tried standing up in it yet.
