Ditto to what @Mrs. Twine: said. I also have a CJ and really like it. Being able to try in person is priceless!

@Hilsy85; Yippee! I want to go, too! I think that's so fantastic that you can see and try some things in person. Baby-wearing is fabulous, but good carriers are often expensive, and it's really so much nicer to get to see and handle different choices before you commit. If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to see what you end up loving. :)

@Hilsy85; I really do like Comfy Joey the best out of what I've tried (Sleeping Baby, Sakura, Oscha, and a couple of WAHM 'brands'). But I hate to make recommendations almost because personal preference is such a big factor! With any that are big names, like Sakura, you really can't go too far wrong. I wish there were better groups and lending libraries everywhere because I really swear by that being the best way to choose.

@Mrs. Twine: is there a ring sling brand that you would recommend over them?

@Hilsy85; Linen is cooler. I don't like getting all hot and sweaty, so it's a nice material for me. And I think you can safely do a single layer even if you plan to extended baby-wear (like up to age three). I actually don't have a Sakura anymore, but I had a silk one at one point. I liked it, but didn't love it.

@Mrs. Twine: thanks! I read what they said on the website and it sounds like they would choose double over single, but I don't want to spend the extra money if it's not really that big a difference, you know? I don't know of any babywearing groups in the area unfortunately :(

@aprk: I would think cooler as well!

Linen is comfy, and gets softer the more you use it. Also cooler, I'd think.

Here's what Sakura had to say about both: http://www.sakurabloom.com/linen-or-silk-single-or-double/
I agree with their assessments, except I don't know that I've found *quite* that much difference in support levels between a single and double layer. My CJ conversion ring sling is a single layer and I've used it with Ellie (50lbs) just for fun to show someone that it's not limited to newborns or super tiny infants.

I really do prefer the linen, myself, especially if it's warm/hot out, but silk is quite beautiful. Is there any way you could try one of each out and see which you prefer?

I'm looking at the sakura bloom ring sling, and I see that they come in a single or double layer. Is one better than the other? I would rather get the single, since it's less expensive, but if double is going to make it way more comfortable, maybe I would splurge for that...?

Also, linen vs silk--what's the difference? Which would you recommend?
