@banana: YES! You can even put your meat in frozen so you don't even have to thaw it. They're amazing.

Pulled pork: pork roast, can of coke, bbq sauce. 6-7 hours and done.

Chicken: chicken breasts (can be frozen), can of diced tomatoes (do not drain), cream of chicken soup, packet of ranch seasoning. The sauce is really good and my father in law likes to eat this chicken with baked potatoes (can also be made in the crock pot) and put the sauce on the potato.

This one is a little bit more work, but it's SO good and totally worth it!
BBQ Chicken & Cornbread:

Put 2-3 chicken breasts in the slow cooker with diced up raw sweet potato, corn, & onion (black beans are good too) and top with 1 bottle BBQ sauce. Add 1/4c water (swish it around in the bottle).
Mix up one package of Jiffy cornbread mix and pour on top. DO NOT MIX.
Cook 6 hours on low. Yum!

@sorrycharlie: that sounds perfect... just have to keep some rolls in the freezer (and leave them out to defrost the night before) and a tub of potato salad or something in the fridge. We're not big bread people so it's tough to keep fresh bread in the house... but I can see us freezing some rolls. Thanks!!

@mrs. wagon: yup! Bought the Calise bulky rolls :) DH was in heaven. Wasn't the healthiest option but certainly not the worst! He didn't want anything with it, but rice or salad would have complimented it well!

I made pulled BBQ steak for DH Monday.

Take a slab of raw steak (or pork, or chicken), put in crock pot, cover with marinade of choice (I used sweet baby rays BBQ sauce). Low 8 hours or high 4 hours.

Use 2 forks and shred, let sit another 20-30 min.

Easy - and 2 ingredients!

I am soooo buying a slow cooker when we move! I miss mine, I never used it a lot as a single person, but it's so great for making so many things!

I plan to get one that has an insert that can be used on the stovetop so you can brown right in the pan, like this one:

Love this thread. We make this at least twice a month. Beef stew meat, chop up 2 potatoes, 2 carrots, and an onion. Throw in beef stew seasoning packet with water. Voila! 7 hours later yumminess. Baby loves it too. We eat it over rice.

I've done the chicken and cream of mushroom before (chicken breast + cream of mushroom soup, cook on low for 6-8 hours then stir in some cream cheese and/or shredded cheese and serve with pasta or rice). I've also done some Indian dishes with beans or lentils (dry beans plus lots of water, onion, canned tomatoes, Indian spices--garam masala, cumin, etc, cook on high for 10-12 hours).

My slow cooker has a timer and automatically goes into warm mode once the timer has finished, so I've done things that take anywhere from 6-12 hours. Very convenient!

@banana: Ours was a $35 one from Target that has a few different settings: high 4 hours or 6, low 6 hours or 8. Plus, it automatically turns to warming when done until turned off.

I love the chicken and salsa recipe. I also sprinkle some paprika and garlic on there before I pour on the salsa.

Beef au jus is so easy and yummy. Put in a pot roast and cover with two cans of beef consomme. Then I pull it, make it into sandwiches, and dip it in the extra sauce.

I also do an easy roast with veggies. You can put anything in there, I usually do carrots, potatoes, peas, mushrooms, etc. Then just cover it with a couple of cans of onion soup.

Also, you can do chicken with different kinds of salad dressing over it.
