I use slow flow because Ryan tolerates it. Takes him way longer to take a bottle. Super fast flow and he's a chugger. He nurses 10 mins max usually less and his bottles take at least 20 mins. He gets one bottle a day. He is d 3m.

I have a crazy fast letdown (like every drop of milk is out of my body within 3 minutes) and both of my kids found slow flow nipples extremely frustrating! Even a medium flow took them 2-3 times longer to take their feeds.

@jetsa: Yes, this exactly!

@sorrycharlie: I have a pretty fast letdown, too (it used to make her throw up when she was teeny), and even with a slow flow nipple on her bottles she still gets frustrated nursing sometimes after getting a bottle because she can't get it fast enough. So, all that to say, I think the slow flow nipples will be plenty fast for her!

We used Avent Natural and started with the level 1s that came on the bottles but eventually switched to level 2s when she was about 4 months old. We never had to switch after that, though. I also had a strong letdown.

@sorrycharlie: slow my bf baby never used anything but newborn nipples. It's supposed to help prevent bottle preference

I would start with slow flow. Even with the slow flow J was choking on the milk at first. He didn't understand that if he stopped to take a nap the milk would keep flowing :silly: . He has it figured out now.

I definitely wouldn't do fast flow. Even if you have a strong let down, that is just what occurs at first. The rest of the time she is nursing its "regular" flow, not fast and strong during the whole nursing session.

Slow flow. I have a strong let down as well but my daughter would nurse for maybe 10-20 min whereas she would down a 3-4 ounce bottle in 5 min with slow flow nipples.

I have a really fast let down as well and baby girl seems to do well with the level 1s. We tried the preemie flow nipples and they were fine but she took foreverrr. We do 1-2 bottles per day and have had no trouble with the 1s.

my LO has not been introduced to a bottle yet. realistically, she only needs to hopefully take one in a few weeks when we have a wedding. we can leave early if need be.

that said, I have a really strong letdown - would I still try a slow flow nipple for her, or a medium or fast? if she is already used to fast flow?
